YIT Oyj has commenced construction of an educational building at the Tikkurila Competence Campus, following the signing of a contract with VTK Kiinteistot for the implementation phase of the project. The agreement formalises the transition from planning to execution for the development.
The value of the contract awarded to YIT stands at approximately EUR 77 million. This project forms part of a broader plan to expand and modernise educational infrastructure within the Tikkurila area, which has been undergoing steady urban development in recent years.
The Tikkurila Competence Campus is being developed as a hub for learning and skill development, bringing together multiple educational functions within a single integrated environment. The new building is expected to provide updated facilities designed to meet current academic and vocational training requirements.
YIT has been actively involved in similar public infrastructure and institutional projects across Finland, focusing on sustainable construction practices and efficient project delivery. The company’s order book has seen contributions from education and public-use developments, reflecting stable demand in this segment.
The collaboration with VTK Kiinteistot also highlights the role of private developers and contractors in delivering public-oriented infrastructure, especially in growing urban centres where demand for modern educational spaces continues to rise.
