Synopsis

Jakson Infra has secured a USD 62.22 million power distribution contract in Angola under a World Bank-supported programme aimed at improving electricity access. The project focuses on upgrading distribution networks in Luanda to enhance supply reliability. It includes complete execution from design to commissioning. This marks another step in the company’s expansion in international markets, especially Africa. The contract also reflects growing opportunities for Indian infrastructure firms in global energy projects backed by multilateral funding agencies.

Jakson Infra has secured a power distribution contract from Angola’s Ministry of Energy and Water under the World Bank-backed Electricity Sector Improvement and Access Project. The contract is valued at USD 62.22 million, according to a company statement.

The scope of the project includes design, supply, installation and commissioning work for the rehabilitation of distribution networks in Luanda. The work is expected to improve electricity reliability and expand access across the capital city, where infrastructure upgrades are part of ongoing reforms in the energy sector.

Managing Director Raghav Gupta stated that the company felt honoured by the trust placed in it by the Angolan ministry and the World Bank, adding that the project strengthens its ability to deliver complex and large-scale power infrastructure works. He also noted that the contract supports Jakson Infra’s position as a reliable partner for globally funded infrastructure initiatives.

The project involves complete execution, including engineering, procurement, installation and commissioning of distribution systems. It is aligned with Angola’s broader efforts to modernise its energy infrastructure and increase electricity coverage, especially in urban centres.

Angola has been working to improve its power sector with support from international agencies such as the World Bank, focusing on reducing outages and expanding access to underserved areas. Projects like ESIAP aim to address gaps in transmission and distribution while strengthening institutional capacity.

With this contract, Jakson Infra continues to expand its presence in international markets, particularly in Africa. The company has been focusing on strengthening its role in the power transmission and distribution segment, supported by participation in multilateral-funded projects.
