IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts to develop a 200-key Holiday Inn property in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The hotel is scheduled to open in the first quarter of 2029 and will cater to growing demand in a key industrial and commercial hub. The signing marks the third collaboration between the two companies, reflecting continued expansion of IHG’s midscale brand portfolio in India. The company currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in the country and has a pipeline of 89 additional properties planned over the next three to five years, indicating sustained growth in India’s hospitality and commercial real estate sectors.
IHG Hotels & Resorts has signed a management agreement with Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts for the development of a 200-key Holiday Inn hotel in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu, as part of its expansion strategy in key commercial centres.
The company announced in the past week that the property is expected to open in the first quarter of 2029. The project will be developed in Sriperumbudur, an established industrial and manufacturing hub located near Chennai, which has seen increasing demand for business hospitality infrastructure.
IHG indicated that the signing aligns with its strategy to expand its presence in high-growth commercial locations across India. The company has been focusing on strengthening its midscale and upper midscale portfolio, particularly through its Holiday Inn brand, which caters to business and leisure travellers.
The agreement also marks the third partnership between IHG Hotels & Resorts and Thanishq Grande Hotels & Resorts, reflecting an ongoing collaboration between the two companies in developing hospitality assets. The project is expected to add to the supply of organised hotel inventory in the Sriperumbudur micro-market, which is driven by industrial activity and corporate demand.
Sriperumbudur has emerged as a key destination for manufacturing and logistics, hosting several domestic and multinational companies across sectors such as automobiles, electronics and engineering. The development of new hospitality assets in the region is aimed at supporting business travel and corporate stays linked to these industries.
IHG currently operates 51 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 89 hotels scheduled to open over the next three to five years. The company’s expansion reflects growing investor interest in the hospitality sector, supported by improving travel demand and economic activity.
The addition of the Holiday Inn property in Sriperumbudur is expected to strengthen IHG’s presence in Tamil Nadu, where the company already operates multiple hotels across key cities. The focus on management agreements, rather than asset ownership, remains central to its growth model in India.
The development highlights continued investment in hospitality real estate across emerging commercial corridors, where demand is being driven by industrial expansion and infrastructure development. With increasing corporate activity in regions such as Sriperumbudur, hotel operators are expanding capacity to cater to business travellers and long-stay requirements.
The project is expected to contribute to the formalisation of hospitality supply in the region as developers and operators respond to evolving demand patterns.
