The three-day visit of the World Bank (WB) and Asian Development Bank (ADB) team to Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, concluded successfully midweek. The visit was part of a joint mission to review the ongoing construction and development work in the capital city. During their stay, the team conducted multiple sessions at the APCRDA headquarters in Rayapudi to assess progress and discuss key aspects of urban planning and infrastructure development. CRDA Additional Commissioner A. Bhargava Teja IAS participated in several sessions, providing detailed updates on the construction progress and other capital development initiatives.
The WB and ADB team engaged in discussions with APCRDA officials, offering suggestions to strengthen investment promotion and enhance the implementation of measures to prevent disasters and accidents in the capital area. They emphasized the importance of creating inclusive housing complexes accessible to all sections of society and improving the management of roads, water resources, and wastewater systems. Comprehensive master planning, social welfare program management, and the role of the communications department in these initiatives were also discussed. Representatives from PgMC, contract organizations, and PMC staff took part in the sessions, contributing to detailed deliberations on development strategies and operational efficiency.
The visit also highlighted the capital's progress since the initiation of Amaravati's development plan, which began in the mid-2010s. Several past milestones, including the establishment of key infrastructure and early housing projects, were reviewed to ensure alignment with sustainable urban development goals. The discussions reflected a focus on long-term resilience, effective governance, and equitable access to resources for residents of the capital.
