State-owned NBCC has indicated that it is exploring the possibility of undertaking an infrastructure development project in Seychelles, covering an area of around 139 acres. The proposed project would include housing and allied social and leisure infrastructure. The development was discussed during a recent visit by a high-level delegation from the Republic of Seychelles, led by Vice-President Sebastien Pillay, to NBCC's headquarters in New Delhi. Senior officials from both sides held detailed deliberations on potential project components and execution capabilities. NBCC presented its experience in overseas infrastructure delivery, including a large-scale social housing project in Maldives. The company is already executing multiple projects in Seychelles, including the Indian Chancery Building and associated residential and cultural facilities.
State-owned NBCC has stated that it is exploring the possibility of undertaking an infrastructure development project in the Republic of Seychelles, which would involve the development of housing and allied infrastructure on an island spanning approximately 139 acres.
In a statement issued earlier this week, the company said that Sebastien Pillay, Vice-President of the Republic of Seychelles, visited NBCC's headquarters in New Delhi, leading a high-level delegation. The visit formed part of discussions aimed at exploring potential infrastructure collaboration between NBCC and the Seychelles government.
During the visit, the delegation held detailed discussions with K P Mahadevaswamy, Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC, along with other senior officials of the company. According to NBCC, the discussions focused on potential projects in Seychelles and the scope of infrastructure development on the identified island.
The company stated that comprehensive presentations were made to the delegation, outlining development proposals for an area of about 139 acres. The proposed development plan includes a mix of affordable social housing, leisure and hospitality components, premium villas, sports facilities and supporting social infrastructure. NBCC indicated that the project is being examined as a holistic development, integrating residential, recreational and community-focused amenities.
NBCC also informed the delegation about its experience and execution capabilities in overseas markets. The company highlighted its role in the successful execution of a 2,000-unit social housing project at Hulhumale in Maldives as part of the presentation to the Seychelles delegation.
Earlier this year, the Chairman and Managing Director of NBCC had visited Seychelles to review ongoing and potential projects in the country. NBCC is currently engaged in the construction of the Indian Chancery Building in Seychelles, along with a Cultural Centre and residential units.
The company operates primarily in project management consultancy and real estate development and has been involved in several domestic and international infrastructure projects. NBCC stated that discussions with the Seychelles delegation were part of ongoing efforts to explore opportunities for infrastructure development and cooperation in overseas markets.
