Air India and Singapore Airlines have signed a commercial cooperation framework to strengthen their existing partnership and enhance connectivity between India and Singapore. The agreement, formalised by Air India CEO-MD Campbell Wilson and Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong, will coordinate flight schedules, expand route options, and enable unified booking across both airlines. The framework also explores improved frequent flyer benefits and deeper corporate travel collaboration. With their codeshare network already covering 61 destinations across 20 countries, the deal lays the foundation for broader joint business opportunities and potential global expansion.
Air India and Singapore Airlines have formalised a commercial cooperation framework to reinforce their longstanding aviation partnership. The agreement, signed in Mumbai by Air India CEO-MD Campbell Wilson and Singapore Airlines CEO Goh Choon Phong, builds on their existing codeshare relationship, which currently connects 61 destinations in 20 countries. This framework aims to provide more convenience and choice for passengers travelling between India and Singapore and potentially beyond.
Under the agreement, the airlines will closely coordinate schedules, expand available route options, and allow customers to book flights across both carriers in a seamless manner. This step is expected to improve connectivity, reduce transfer times, and enhance overall travel experience for passengers, while ensuring that operations remain aligned with regulatory approvals and market demand.
The framework also focuses on strengthening corporate travel programmes, enabling the airlines to offer more tailored solutions to business travellers. Both carriers are exploring ways to enhance frequent flyer benefits for members of Air India's Maharaja Club and Singapore Airlines' KrisFlyer programme, which could include priority services, bonus rewards, and better integration of loyalty points beyond the current Star Alliance benefits.
In addition to India-Singapore routes, the agreement paves the way for potential expansion of cooperation into other global markets. This could allow the airlines to capitalise on growing international travel demand, optimise traffic flows through their hubs, and tap into joint business opportunities in regions where both carriers have a strong presence.
The framework is intended as a strategic guide rather than an immediate operational change. It complements existing codeshare agreements, which have been expanded in recent years to broaden travel options and improve scheduling flexibility for passengers. Both airlines will continue to evaluate market conditions and regulatory approvals before finalising specific routes, schedules, or joint business operations.
