Highway Infrastructure Limited has started toll operations at the Kaza Fee Plaza on the Chilakaluripet Vijayawada section of NH16 in Andhra Pradesh, following a contract from NHAI worth INR 328.77 crore. Covering 82.5 km, this marks the company's largest toll assignment and brings its consolidated order book to INR 1,144 crore. The project, operated under an asset-light model for one year, is among the highest toll-collecting public-funded plazas in South India. It enhances Highway Infrastructure's presence on key national corridors while contributing significantly to its revenue and operational portfolio.
Highway Infrastructure Limited has officially started toll operations at the Kaza Fee Plaza on the Chilakaluripet Vijayawada stretch of NH16 in Andhra Pradesh, effective earlier this week. The project was awarded by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and is valued at INR 328.77 crore, representing the company's largest toll operations mandate so far.
The toll plaza spans a highway stretch from km 355.0 to km 437.5, covering a total of 82.5 km on NH16, a critical north-south corridor connecting major economic centres across southern and eastern India. Industry data indicate that the Kaza Fee Plaza ranks among the highest toll-collecting publicly funded plazas in South India, underlining its strategic importance for highway operations and revenue potential.
The contract requires Highway Infrastructure to manage fee collection and maintain operational facilities along the plaza for a one-year period. The company operates this project under an asset-light model, which enables scaling toll operations with limited upfront capital while maintaining clearer visibility of cash flows. This approach aligns with its broader strategy of expanding tollway management without heavy investments in infrastructure assets.
With the inclusion of the Kaza Fee Plaza and other recent projects, Highway Infrastructure's consolidated order book has grown to INR 1,144 crore. The EPC segment has increased by 52 percent since March 2025, from INR 417 crore to INR 633 crore, while the tollways collection order book has surged 348 percent over the same period, reaching INR 510 crore. This demonstrates significant growth in both construction and operational segments of the business.
Arun Kumar Jain, managing director of Highway Infrastructure Limited, said that commencing operations at the Kaza Fee Plaza represents a key milestone for the company. He highlighted that NHAI's trust in Highway Infrastructure's operational capabilities strengthens the company's presence on this national highway corridor and reflects confidence in its ability to manage high-volume toll operations efficiently.
The project not only activates revenue from the company's largest toll mandate but also reinforces Highway Infrastructure's growing role in managing strategically important highway stretches in India. Its execution could set the stage for further expansion opportunities along other high-traffic corridors in the coming years.
