Southern Railway has assigned MIC Electronics Limited to modernise passenger information systems across five stations in its Salem Division under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. The INR 56.43 lakh project involves supplying and installing RDSO-compliant display boards, Full HD and 4K UHD units, network monitoring devices, public address systems, cabling, and related infrastructure. The work also includes civil, signalling, and telecom tasks, along with testing, commissioning, and a five-year maintenance contract. The initiative aims to improve real-time passenger communication, enhance station-level digital infrastructure, and support operational efficiency.
Southern Railway has awarded MIC Electronics Limited the contract to upgrade passenger information systems at Tirupattur, Samalpatti, Morappur, Bommidi, and Salem stations under the Amrit Bharat Scheme. The project, valued at INR 56.43 lakh, covers supply, installation, testing, commissioning, allied civil, signalling, and telecom works. It also includes a five-year Comprehensive Annual Maintenance Contract to ensure sustained performance and reliability.
The upgraded systems will be RDSO-compliant and include single-line double-face platform display boards, Full HD and UHD large-format displays, 4K UHD professional displays, network monitoring devices, fibre management systems, public address hardware, speakers, and associated cabling. The project also involves excavation, trenching, and reinstatement of signalling and telecom equipment, alongside deployment of skilled and unskilled manpower as needed.
MIC Electronics CEO, Rakshit Mathur, noted that the contract strengthens the company's long-standing association with Indian Railways and reflects its commitment to delivering reliable, RDSO-approved passenger information solutions. He added that the deployment of advanced digital displays and communication systems will enhance real-time information access and improve the overall passenger experience in line with the Amrit Bharat Scheme's objectives.
The project is designed to enhance real-time passenger communication, upgrade digital infrastructure at the station level, and support operational processes as part of Indian Railways broader station modernisation programme. MIC Electronics has previously contributed to railway modernisation with RDSO approvals for microprocessor controllers used in train AC units and other electronic solutions, marking its consistent role in supporting Indian Railways technology initiatives.
