Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) stepped up its scrutiny of construction sites earlier this week after the civic chief directed officials to enforce anti-pollution measures more stringently amid rising winter smog. The town planning department was instructed to personally verify dust-control systems at active project sites and shut down any location failing to comply for a week. Acting on these orders, engineering teams have begun field inspections across construction zones, quarries, RMC plants and coal-based bakeries, ensuring adherence to air and noise pollution norms mandated under the SOP issued last year.Read more

Authorities in Gurugram have moved to register an FIR against Ornamental Realtors Pvt Ltd for not renewing its commercial colony licence for a 3.5-acre project in Sector 61. The licence, originally issued in 2009, expired in 2017, but the developer did not apply for renewal or pay the required fees. Delhi has cleared a PM-Pragati-ike project-monitoring mechanism to speed up major public works, especially those above INR 5 crore. The system, expected to be known as CM-Pragati, will allow the Chief Minister to review progress through a digital dashboard and hold departments accountable for delays. Alongside this, the city has announced a detailed waste-management and pollution-control plan. The approach includes expanding waste-to-energy capacity, upgrading existing plants, adding a new WTE plant in Bawana by mid-2027, and targeting the removal of legacy waste by December 2028.Read more

The Ghaziabad Development Authority has fined two builders INR 20,000 each for violating environmental norms by storing construction materials in the open at sites in New Panchawati Colony and Vijaynagar. The rules, under GRAP-3 and NGT directives, prescribe higher fines for larger plots and stricter measures for sites above 500 sqm, including UPPCB registration, dust audits, and camera monitoring. These actions are part of a wider GDA crackdown on illegal construction and pollution, though residents highlight continued dust and infrastructure issues that require coordinated civic efforts.Read more

The Chandigarh Housing Board's proposal to introduce plotted residential development at the Rajiv Gandhi Chandigarh Technology Park has been stalled after the urban-planning department rejected the request on the grounds of violating the city's master plan. The move marks another setback to CHB's long-pending attempts to initiate housing on the 123-acre land parcel, originally reclaimed nearly a decade ago after a prolonged dispute. The board's earlier group-housing scheme had also faced environmental hurdles, and the latest objection now forces CHB to reconsider how the strategically located IT Park land can be used.Read more

The Supreme Court has directed the ED to release 12 V Hotels properties, including the Centaur Hotel in Juhu, back to Lodha Developers, which acquired the company under NCLT-approved insolvency proceedings last year. Lodha had deposited INR 520.80 crore as a security, which the court ordered to be returned with interest. The ruling makes it clear that Lodha must have no connection to V Hotels' former promoters or proceeds from alleged crimes. Legal proceedings against the previous promoters will continue, while the decision highlights the protection for legitimate resolution applicants.Read more
