The Municipal Corporation of Delhi has decided to keep property tax rates unchanged for FY27 despite a sharp rise in taxpayer numbers and collections. The civic body reported a 19.8% increase in registrations, crossing 12 lakh taxpayers, and collections reached INR 2,270 crore, a 30% jump from the previous year. The budget proposal of INR 16,531 crore focuses on sanitation, waste-processing upgrades, parking development, licence reforms, and road construction. While revenue has improved, the MCD continues to carry liabilities of around INR 15,792 crore, including employee dues and contractor payments.Read more

The Lucknow Development Authority has approved a wide set of projects covering about 385 acres, including seven private townships under the Uttar Pradesh Township Policy 2023 and layout plans for major upcoming schemes such as IT City, Wellness City, Naimish Nagar and Varun Vihar. A revised plan for Sharda Nagar clears over 1,100 EWS homes along with supporting infrastructure, including an STP. The LDA has also frozen prices of its vacant flats for a year and introduced discounts for decorated armed-forces veterans. A reclaimed 43-acre tract near Shaheed Path will be redeveloped for group housing and commercial use. The board also resolved relocation issues for 12 displaced shopkeepers.Read more

SEPC Ltd has closed its long-pending arbitration dispute with Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) after both sides agreed to a full and final financial settlement. The company will receive INR 30.45 crore under the settlement, clearing all outstanding claims and counterclaims between the two organisations. Along with the settlement, SEPC has also been issued a supplementary work order worth INR 72.5 crore for an ongoing vertical shaft sinking project. The development strengthens SEPC's position in mining infrastructure, a sector where it has been expanding steadily in recent years.Read more

The Maharashtra government has introduced a revised occupancy certificate amnesty scheme to resolve long-pending OC issues affecting nearly 20,000 buildings in Mumbai. Announced by Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the move is expected to benefit over 10 lakh residents who have faced double property taxes, limited loan access and lower resale values due to missing certificates. The scheme allows penalty-free applications for six months, with reduced charges thereafter, and offers concessions on regularisation premiums. Residents will also gain full redevelopment rights, while hospitals and schools in unauthorised structures will receive relief. The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) will now strictly enforce a one-time penalty on allottees who fail to begin construction within three years, and will not issue final sale deeds until buildings are completed. The move targets beneficiaries who left plots vacant or transferred them illegally while land values soared. Exceptions have been made for Arkavathy and Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Layouts due to delays and incomplete infrastructure. Many older allottees had secured sites at very low rates but never built on them. The BDA has also flagged cases of unauthorised transfers, which will now attract a 25% penalty. JKRERA is launching a unified single-window system for approvals, registrations, and oversight of real estate projects across Jammu & Kashmir. Projects above 500sqm or with more than eight apartments must register before advertising or commencing construction. District enforcement cells will monitor compliance. Non-compliant promoters may face fines or imprisonment. The housing and urbandevelopment department has ordered all new and ongoing projects to register under JKRERA before work begins.
