Mumbai's Coastal Road Project's north phase, connecting Versova to Bhayandar, has received crucial Stage 1 approval for mangrove forest diversion. The INR 20,000 crore project involves interchanges, elevated roads, and twin tunnels, with much of the area in the Coastal Regulation Zone. Approximately 8.24 hectares of mangrove forest and 9,000 trees will be affected. Mitigation includes planting over 1.37 lakh new mangroves and afforestation over 31 hectares. The BMC will now seek High Court approval to begin construction, aiming to reduce travel time significantly and ease traffic congestion in Mumbai.Read more

State-owned SJVN has signed multiple power purchase agreements to supply green energy from its hydro electric projects in Nepal and Himachal Pradesh. The agreements, announced on Tuesday, involve Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited (UPPCL) and New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC). Projects like the 900-MW Arun-III in Nepal and the 210-MW Luhri Stage-I and 382-MW Sunni Dam HEPs in Himachal Pradesh will add 592 MW of green energy to the national grid upon commissioning by December 2028. India is poised to invest around INR 4.91 lakh crore between 2027 and 2032 to upgrade and expand its power transmission network, as per a report by financial consultancy InVed. The capital will bolster high-voltage infrastructure, including the addition of over 76,000 circuit kilometres of transmission lines and nearly 5 lakh MVA of transformation capacity. A significant chunk over INR 3.91 lakh crore will fund the Inter-State Transmission System, while INR 99,296 crore will be allocated to intra-state projects. Ludhiana is set to inaugurate several new civic body projects, including an innovative construction and demolition (C&D) waste plant. The plant, located in Dhandhari, will process at least 100 tons of waste daily to produce tiles, costing INR 7.30 crore for its tender. A large-scale cleanliness campaign was undertaken in Navi Mumbai, spearheaded by Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) in collaboration with the Dr Nanasaheb Dharmadhikari Foundation, involving over 3,500 citizens and volunteers. The initiative targeted the Sion-Panvel highway and five major railway stations-Belapur, Nerul, Juinagar, Sanpada, and Vashi. Supervised by NMMC Commissioner Dr Kailas Shinde and senior civic officials, the operation yielded 22 tonnes of waste, including plastic, paper, fabric, and overgrown vegetation. Inox Neo Energies, a subsidiary of Inox Clean Energy Ltd, has acquired Skypower Solar India for an enterprise value of INR 265 crore. The deal includes a 50 MW (AC) / 57.5 MW (DC) solar project located in Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, which was commissioned in FY18. The project is backed by a 25-year power purchase agreement with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company Ltd (MPPMCL). MMRDA has cut the estimated cost of the planned Uttan-Virar sea link project from INR 87,427 crore to INR 52,652 crore, saving around INR 35,000 crore. The reduction comes after a redesign that changed lane configurations from 4+4 to 2+2 lanes and shifted from a twin-pillar to single-pillar structural design. The sea link portion was also shortened from 24.4 km to 19 km, while the project's total length remains 55.1 km. About 72% of the new cost will be financed through loans, with the rest via state equity. Deputy CM Eknath Shinde has asked MMRDA to speed up approvals and submit a detailed project report.Read more

The Uttar Pradesh government has acquired 600 acres in Gorakhpur's Dhuriyapar area to build the Dhuriyapar Industrial Township, also known as Greater GIDA. Spread across 17 villages, the project aims to boost manufacturing in the underdeveloped eastern region of the state. Big names like Adani-ACC, Shree Cement, and Keyaan Distillery have shown interest, with plans for cement plants and distillery units. A specialised electronics cluster is also in the works. The new Gorakhpur Link Expressway will improve logistics, making the township more attractive to investors.
