Deputy Chief Minister Shri Eknath Shinde has announced that trial runs for Mumbai Metro Line 4, from Wadala to Kasarvadavli, will begin in September, with commercial operations expected by year-end. Spanning 32.3 km and costing INR 14,500 crore, the line will have 32 stations and interchanges with Metro 2B, 5, and 6, boosting connectivity and reducing road congestion. The first phase, Wadala-Ghatkopar, is nearly complete, with track laying and system integration underway. Once fully operational, Line 4 is projected to carry over 8 lakh passengers daily, cutting travel time between south-central Mumbai and Thane and strengthening the city's metro network.Read more

The Visakhapatnam Metropolitan Region Development Authority initiated plans to develop four theme-based, self-sustaining townships covering about 500 acres. Each will focus on sectors such as IT and innovation, health and wellness, education and knowledge, or tourism and culture. Located near industrial hubs, the developments are aimed at encouraging a walk-to-work culture. A transaction advisor will be appointed to assess feasibility, structure funding models, and oversee the bidding process. The Prime Minister inaugurated Bengaluru's Yellow Line Metro, a 19 km stretch from RV Road to Bommasandra. The INR 7,160 crore project adds 16 stations and expands the city's operational metro network to over 96 km. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has installed a 58-metre-long, 450-tonne steel span over the Pantnagar-Ghatkopar bus stand for Metro Line 4, completing the task in just two nights despite heavy rain, busy traffic, and limited space. Using high-capacity cranes, trailers, and other specialised equipment, over 100 workers and engineers, supported by traffic management teams, ensured safe execution. The Wadala-Kasarvadavali Metro Line 4 is now 84.5% complete. This milestone marks a major step toward enhancing connectivity and cutting travel times across the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, with MMRDA crediting government agencies for their cooperation in delivering the challenging operation.Read more

Earlier this week, the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation revealed plans to widen and open more than two hundred roads across the city, affecting approximately 8 767 properties. Works are set to commence in the coming days on just over one hundred roads spread across five zones. It was stated that residents possessing proof of occupancy before 2010 would receive alternative arrangements, while legally acquired properties would be compensated. Those residing in unauthorised structures were informed that no compensation would be awarded.Read more

Maharashtra's government approved a substantial investment to upgrade land survey operations and bolster revenue department facilities. It was indicated that over INR 1,700 crore would be allocated, with a portion dedicated to acquiring advanced rovers to accelerate digital land surveying under the e-Survey 2.0 initiative. At the same time, the remainder is earmarked for the construction of new office premises and residences for officials. The Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port in Kolkata is implementing measures to cut vessel turnaround time from five to four days within a year. The government has approved the four-laning of the Marakkanam-Puducherry section of National Highway 332A in Tamil Nadu at a total cost of INR 2,157 crore. The project, covering about 46 kilometres, is aimed at easing congestion, improving safety, and enhancing connectivity between key towns and cities including Chennai, Puducherry, Viluppuram, and Nagapattinam. Adani Airports is rolling out a city-side development plan worth INR 20,000 crore to reshape its airport business model and boost non-aeronautical revenue. Nearly 70% of this investment will go into Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports. The first phase spans 655 acres across eight airports, with mixed-use developments like hotels, retail, offices, and entertainment zones. The company aims to increase non-aero revenue share from about 50% now to 70% by 2030.
