Siemens has secured two significant contracts from Maharashtra Metro Rail Corporation Ltd (MAHA-METRO), valued at approximately INR 773 crore, to provide cutting-edge signalling and telecommunication systems for the Nagpur Metro Rail Project Phase 2. Spanning a network of 43.8 kilometres with 32 stations, the orders cover the design to commissioning of Communication-Based Train Control (CBTC) and advanced telecommunication systems. The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has started work on a 1.2 km stretch of the Coastal Road Project's second phase in Goregaon, Mumbai. This section lies outside the Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ). The north phase of the project, connecting Versova to Bhayandar, encompasses elevated roads and twin tunnels, with most of its area within CRZ limits. The BMC recently received Stage 1 approvals for mangrove diversion and will now approach the High Court for working permissions before final environmental clearances.Read more

Work on the INR 694 crore Goregaon creek bridge, a 512-meter, 3+3 lane project, is expected to begin around August. Approved by BMC in 2022, the bridge will connect Andheri West and Goregaon West, offering an alternative to New Link Road. The project faced delays due to environmental clearances in CRZ areas and over 2,500 slum tenements in its path. Despite recent court approvals, a Slum Rehabilitation Authority (SRA) project needs to clear homes on the Goregaon side. Felling 31 mangroves is planned, with 444 new ones as compensation.Read more

Kakinada SEZ Limited, an Auro Infra Realty subsidiary, is setting up a INR 1,310 crore, 3x50 MLD desalination plant in Kona Village, Kakinada District, Andhra Pradesh. An Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC) recommended Coastal Regulation Zone (CRZ) clearance on June 26. The plant will draw 380 MLD seawater and distribute product water to industries. Brine rejects of 230 MLD will go into the sea, but a condition requires developing a brine reuse prototype. This initiative aims to reduce freshwater load and groundwater tapping, with INR 10 crore for environmental mitigation.Read more

The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) plans to bid out 124 highway and expressway projects valued at INR 3.4 lakh crore in FY26. This initiative aims to address a slowdown in awards and build developer confidence. Nearly 78% of these projects will be offered under a Public-Private Partnership model, with the rest government-funded. Notable projects include the Gorakhpur-Kishangan-Siliguri highway and the Patna-Purnea stretch. Maharashtra Chief Minister Shri Devendra Fadnavis directed authorities to fast-track the implementation of approved power infrastructure projects in Nagpur and Amravati, citing a surge in electricity demand fuelled by industrial, commercial, and real estate growth. The Meghalaya government has sought financial backing of INR 2,270 crore from the Union Ministry of Power to fund critical power transmission projects, as confirmed by state Power Minister Abu Taher Mondal during the 16th National Power Committee meeting. The proposed plan, already approved by the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), aims to increase transmission capacity by 760 MVA and extend the network by 190 circuit kilometres.
