The Western Railway has proposed demolishing and rebuilding the Field Marshal General Cariappa Road Over Bridge (ROB) in Borivali, in service since 1993 and nearing the end of its life. However, the BMC has asked for a three- to four-year delay, warning that removing the only flyover linking Borivali East and West would worsen traffic amid ongoing projects. The civic body has requested a structural audit and repairs to extend its lifespan. Existing congestion is already heightened by the delayed Kora Kendra Phase II flyover, stalled by slum clearance issues, and the Thane-Borivli twin tunnel project currently under construction in Borivali East.Read more

The Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), operator of the city's underground Aqua Line (Metro Line 3), plans to introduce promotional offers and discounts to increase its ridership. The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is set to clear a subsidy backlog of over INR 200 crore for waste-to-energy projects under the National Bioenergy Programme. This was announced after a guideline requiring plants to show 80% efficiency for three consecutive months was relaxed in June. An official said this norm was impractical, as plants often operated at lower capacity without assured off-take. The new rule allows subsidy release based on a one-day demonstration of capacity, and the backlog is expected to be cleared in a few months following post-monsoon inspections.Read more

Indumati Palace, a 145-year-old heritage building in Vadodara is being repurposed into a unique residential-commercial complex led by Pratapsinhrao Gaekwad in collaboration with Johnson Real Estate. Six 12-storey upscale apartment towers will surround the restored palace, which will serve as an exclusive clubhouse for the community. Retail space is planned in the palace's former front yard. The initiative was introduced around the recent Ganesh festivities, with delivery expected in about three years. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) has proposed a massive development plan for Amaravati, the state's greenfield capital, with projects totaling INR 81,317 crore. Tenders have already been issued for projects worth INR 50,552 crore, covering key areas like housing, public infrastructure, flood management, and green energy initiatives. Chief Minister Shri N. Tata Power has signed a INR 6,000 crore wind power project deal with Suzlon Energy in Andhra Pradesh. This initiative, which marks the state's first wind power project since 2019, involves the development and construction of 700 MW of wind turbines. The final stretch of the Santacruz Chembur Link Road (SCLR) extension, a new cable-stayed bridge over the Western Express Highway (WEH), will open for traffic on August 14, 2025. The promenade section of the Mumbai Coastal Road project will open to the public on Independence Day August 15, 2025. A 5.25 km stretch of the total 7.5 km promenade, which features pedestrian pathways, cycling tracks, and viewing decks, will be opened to the public. The inauguration will also mark the opening of the Coastal Road for 24x7 vehicular traffic.
