Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has launched the Swamitva Yojana in Hamirpur, distributing property cards to 10 families from each of 11 tehsils. The implementation of the Swamitva Yojana involved extensive drone-assisted mapping of villages. So far, mapping has been completed for 13,599 out of the 15,196 Abadi Deh villages across Himachal Pradesh. The Indian Survey Department has also provided 16,588 first-level maps for 6,314 villages, including those in Hamirpur district. Additionally, second-level maps for 774 villages and final-level maps for 355 villages have been received, and the distribution of property cards in these areas is currently underway.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Minister Sukhu highlighted that Hamirpur has set a national example by becoming the first district in the country to grant ownership rights to families in Abadi Deh areas. He also noted that recent changes to the Land Revenue Code have enabled the processing of 1.57 lakh mutation cases in the past six months, reducing the need for villagers to make repeated visits to revenue offices. Further efforts are being made to streamline departmental operations, with a timeline established for officers to resolve revenue-related matters, aiming to reduce public inconvenience.
The Chief Minister also appealed to well-off citizens to voluntarily give up government subsidies, such as those for electricity and water, to contribute to the state's self-reliance and developmental efforts. Earlier in the day, Sukhu laid the foundation stone for a new colony for the State Tax and Excise Department in Pakka Bharo, to be constructed at a cost of INR 1.82 crore. He also inaugurated the Bharari-Nandhan-Plassey road, which will be built at a cost of INR 5.59 crore.
