The Uttar Pradesh government has commenced Phase II of the Noida International Airport project, taking physical possession of land for the airport. This phase will cover the proposed maintenance as well as repair and overhaul (MRO) hub and aviation hub.

The UP Administration is set to acquire 1365 acres of land, and approximately 1,181 hectares is to be taken from nearby areas of Karauli Bangar, Dayanatpur, Kuraib, Ranhera, Mudharh, and Beerampur. The land from these areas will be acquired at INR 4,898 crores. The remaining land is owned by the government. Up till now, the administration has taken possession of 237 hectares, from the villages of Birampur (54.6 out of 57.6 hectares), Dayantpur (145 out of 148 hectares), and Mudharh (37 out of 48 hectares).

District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, stated that they are currently taking possession of the remaining villages and that the distribution of compensation is nearly finished. They are acquiring land where all necessary procedures have been completed. The notice to acquire land for the second phase was released on 18th November 2022, from the State Government, and compensation distribution began in July of the previous year. Moreover, the resettlement and rehabilitation process for relocating farmers from three villages is underway.

Around 13,000 families affected by the land acquisition for the second phase of a project will be relocated to Falaida Bangar and Modalpur. This relocation will need 212 hectares of land. Farmers from the villages Ranhera, Kuraib, and Karoli Bangar will be moved, resulting in their complete displacement.

Officials from Noida International Airport Limited (NIAL), who are guiding the airport project, said that Yamuna International Airport Pvt Ltd (YIAPL) is in talks with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) and Airport Authority of India to start test flights by November. The government plans to begin commercial flights by the end of the year. Last month, YIAPL announced that the project's completion date has been moved to the end of April 2025, instead of the original date of September 29 this year. The delay was caused by the slow construction of the passenger terminal, as there was a shortfall of special-grade steel as well as holdups in the fabrication of steel frames for the terminal roof.

During an inspection on June 28, the former chief secretary DS Mishra directed the concessionaire to ensure the commencement of commercial services by December without fail. He also asked the developer to provide a plan outlining their actions for achieving this goal by July 15.

Arun Vir Singh, CEO of NIAL, reported that the number of vendors have been doubled and four vendors are currently working to combat the issue of steel frame fabrication. He also stated that the steel is being supplied from Chandigarh, and that the structure will be prepared at the construction site. Additionally, the required equipment - the instrument landing system (CAT 1 and CAT 3), will be installed before test flights commence.
