Arun Vir Singh has been re-appointmented as the CEO of Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) and Noida International Airport Ltd (NIAL) until December 31, 2024. This marks Singh's sixth extension since his retirement from the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in June 2019.

Singh, a former UP civil servant with a career spanning over 37 years, brings extensive experience in infrastructure development to the role. He has been instrumental in overseeing several key projects in the Noida region, with a particular focus on ensuring the completion of the Noida International Airport by the end of 2024.

The Noida International Airport is a massive undertaking expected to cost INR 5,700 crore (approximately USD 7 billion USD). With a passenger capacity of 12 million per year initially, the airport is poised to be a game changer for the region. It is expected to boost tourism, trade, and overall economic activity in Noida and surrounding areas.

Singh's leadership extends beyond the airport. He is also driving the development of various industrial parks within YEIDA's jurisdiction. These specialized parks aim to attract businesses and create new job opportunities. Some of the key parks include a Medical Device Park to cater to the growing medical device manufacturing industry, a Toy Park to establish Noida as a hub for toy manufacturing, an Apparel Park to attract businesses in the garment and textile industry, and a Data Park to provide vital infrastructure for the booming information technology sector.

Another major initiative under Singh's leadership is the rapid rail project. This project, estimated to cost over INR 30,000 crore (approximately USD 37 billion USD), will connect Noida to Delhi via a high-speed rail network. This significant improvement in connectivity within the National Capital Region (NCR) is expected to ease commutes and boost economic activity.

The extension of Singh's term reflects the government's confidence in his ability to deliver on these crucial projects. With the Noida International Airport nearing completion by year-end and other development initiatives progressing well, the Noida region is poised for significant growth in the coming years.
