The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has adjusted its water supply schedule due to insufficient rainfall in the Morbe Dam catchment area. With only 99 mm of rainfall so far, the dam level has dropped to 68.95 meters. To manage resources responsibly, the NMMC will provide morning water supply daily, while evening supply will be limited to four days a week per area. This revised plan aims to ensure equitable distribution across Navi Mumbai. The NMMC urges residents to conserve water, emphasizing responsible usage to address the current water scarcity and maintain a balanced supply.
The Navi Mumbai Municipal Corporation (NMMC) has announced a revised water supply schedule due to insufficient rainfall in the Morbe Dam catchment area. While the monsoon has begun, rainfall so far has only reached 99 mm, significantly lower than usual. This has caused the current dam level to drop to 68.95 meters.
To ensure responsible water management, the NMMC is implementing a new schedule that prioritizes morning water supply. Residents will continue to receive water supply seven days a week in the morning hours. However, due to the low dam level, evening water supply will now be provided for only four days a week. A department-wise schedule has been created to ensure equitable distribution across different areas.
Previously, the NMMC had implemented a similar strategy, supplying water seven days a week in the mornings and four evenings a week based on a departmental schedule. This initiative received a positive response from residents who actively participated in water conservation efforts.
The new revised plan aims to further manage water resources responsibly. Here's a breakdown of the new evening water supply schedule by area:
Belapur: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
Nerul: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
Vashi: Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
Turbhe: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
Kopar Khairane: Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
Ghansoli: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday
Airoli: Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday
Kharghar and Kamothe: Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday
The NMMC encourages all residents to use water sparingly and remain mindful of the current water situation. By implementing this revised plan and continuing responsible water use, the NMMC aims to balance water supply needs with responsible management of Navi Mumbai's water resources.
