The demolition process is currently underway, focusing on vacated buildings. Security forces have been deployed to maintain order, and the entire 2-kilometer area is under CCTV surveillance for safety. This ensures controlled demolition and minimizes disruption to surrounding areas.
While the LDA is offering alternative housing, some residents have expressed concerns. The relocation fee of INR 8,000 poses a financial burden for some. Additionally, the new apartments are reportedly located on higher floors, creating difficulties for senior citizens. Another resident, Md Raja, highlighted the lack of proper connectivity to the Vasant Kunj area.
The LDA is working to address these concerns. Authorities may consider offering additional support to ease the financial burden of the INR 8,000 relocation fee. Exploring options for lower-floor apartments for senior citizens could also be a solution. Improved transportation infrastructure around Vasant Kunj might be a long-term solution for better connectivity.
