Mahindra Logistics Limited, an integrated logistics services provider in India, has announced the inauguration of a new fulfilment centre in Malda, West Bengal. The 1.1 lakh square feet facility is designed to amplify the company's fulfilment and last-mile delivery operations, marking an expansion in its logistics capabilities.

The Malda centre, positioned as a key element in Mahindra Logistics' supply chain network, aims to streamline and expedite deliveries by leveraging comprehensive fulfilment and distribution services. This development includes the addition of 14 last-mile delivery stations, meant to serve around 15,000 households each day, significantly enhancing the company's reach and service efficiency.

Catering primarily to grocery and e-commerce sectors, the centre's strategic location enables it to efficiently serve the demands of Northern West Bengal, Eastern Bihar, and parts of the Northeast. With a robust daily processing capacity of 10,000 orders and the ability to hold over 15 lakh inventory units, the facility is well-equipped to meet the growing logistical needs of the region.

This expansion not only strengthens Mahindra Logistics' service portfolio but also contributes to local economic growth by creating over 750 job opportunities, including 350 positions specifically for the last-mile delivery network. The company's inclusive hiring policy aims to allocate 25% of the roles at the fulfilment centre to women and individuals from the PwD and LGBTQIA+ communities, reinforcing its commitment to diversity and inclusion.

With the addition of the Malda facility, Mahindra Logistics' warehousing capacity in West Bengal has expanded to 3.3 lakh square feet. The company now offers an array of services, including full truckload, part truckload, and integrated solutions, covering nearly 2000 pin codes in the region.

Rampraveen Swaminathan, Managing Director and CEO of Mahindra Logistics, highlighted the strategic importance of the new centre, emphasising their commitment to providing end-to-end supply chain solutions across India, particularly in tier-II and tier-III cities. He stated that the expansion strengthens their capabilities in Eastern India and supports their vision of facilitating efficient and reliable deliveries nationwide.
