Prime Minister inaugurates Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City projects

Over the weekend, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated over ten projects by Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Dharwad. The HDSCL has completed fifty-three projects out of the sixty-two it has carried out in Hubballi. Nine projects are still under construction. The inauguration of sixteen new projects by Prime Minister Modi marked the completion of works worth Rs 520 crore under the Smart City project.

Over the weekend, Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi inaugurated over ten projects by Hubballi-Dharwad Smart City Limited (HDSCL) at the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) campus in Dharwad. The projects, which have been completed for a while now, were initially scheduled for inauguration a few months ago but had to be postponed due to unforeseen circumstances.



The projects inaugurated include the Redevelopment of Tolankere Lake, Basic Services for Urban Poor Package-01, Redevelopment of Unkal Market, Smart Road Packages 02, 03, 05 and 06, Integrated Command and Control Center, Public Bicycle Sharing, Swimming Pool Phase-02, Vani Vilas Development, Design and Construction of Entrance Gate at KIMS Hospital, Upgradation of Chitaguppi Hospital, Redevelopment Nehru Stadium, Digital Display Board, and Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction of Sports Complex Project.



The Redevelopment of Tolankere Lake cost Rs 25.74 crore. The lake, located in Tolankere village, is spread across an area of 86 acres and has been a major tourist attraction for many years. Its redevelopment is expected to make it more accessible to visitors and improve its overall aesthetic appeal.



The Integrated Command and Control Center, cost Rs 51.31 crore. The centre is a state-of-the-art facility designed to help city officials manage various urban services, including traffic management, disaster response, and public safety. The Public Bicycle Sharing project cost Rs 8.50 crore. The initiative aims to promote eco-friendly transportation in the city by providing residents with bicycles to rent for short journeys around town.



Other projects include the Swimming Pool Phase-02, Vani Vilas Development, Upgradation of Chitaguppi Hospital, Redevelopment Nehru Stadium, and the Groundbreaking Ceremony for Construction of Sports Complex Project. All these projects are aimed at enhancing the quality of life for the residents of Hubballi and Dharwad and improving the overall infrastructure of the city.



The HDSCL has completed fifty-three projects out of the sixty-two it has carried out in Hubballi. Nine projects are still under construction.
