Prime Minister Modi's visit to Tamil Nadu highlighted the inauguration of various projects, amounting to over 20,000 crores, encompassing sectors like air and sea-ports, railways, highways, petroleum and natural gas, atomic energy, and higher education in Tiruchirappalli. He emphasized the crucial role these initiatives would play in propelling Tamil Nadu's advancement, generating employment opportunities, and enhancing transportation.



During his speech, Modi paid tribute to the late Captain Vijayakanth, acknowledging his multifaceted impact as a prominent figure in both cinema and politics. Describing him as 'Captain' due to his significant influence on people through his movies and unwavering commitment to national interests, Modi praised his legacy.



Additionally, the Prime Minister extolled the contributions of Dr. M.S. Swaminathan, an agricultural scientist renowned as the 'Father of India's Green Revolution.' Modi highlighted Swaminathan's pivotal role in ensuring the country's food security, commemorating his lasting impact on India's agricultural landscape.



Addressing an audience at Bharathidasan University, Modi referenced Tamil verses from poet Bharathidasan, emphasizing the creation of a courageous and new world. He commended Indian youth for their remarkable contributions and quoted an increase in patent filings from around 4,000 to nearly 50,000 since 2014, lauding the nation's innovators for their significant growth in this sphere.



Moreover, the visit also encapsulated discussions about the recent natural calamity in Tamil Nadu, particularly the heavy rains and resultant floods causing substantial damage and loss of life in Chennai and southern districts. While Modi assured complete support from the central government, CM MK Stalin urged the declaration of the floods as a severe natural disaster, emphasizing the need for appropriate funds from the National Disaster Relief Fund for recovery and rehabilitation efforts.
