Executives from Skechers, hailing from California, recently visited India and highlighted the country's status as one of their fastest-growing markets in the last three years. David Weinberg, the COO of Skechers USA, had shared plans about the company's intent to localise the production of footwear, apparel, and accessories for both domestic and international markets during his visit to Mumbai in December.

Skechers' journey in India began in 2012 through a joint venture with Future Group. By 2018, the company solidified its presence by investing approximately Rs 580 crore to gain full control of the venture, marking a strategic shift in its approach to the Indian market.

As 2023 draws to a close, the establishment of the state-of-the-art distribution centre by Skechers stands as a testament to their commitment to growth and consolidation within the Indian market. Looking ahead, this venture paves the way for an innovative and dynamic presence in India's evolving business ecosystem, setting a benchmark for industry standards and reinforcing their commitment to progressive, efficient and sustainable practices.
