The Mysore Urban Development Authority (MUDA) is proposing to develop residential areas on approximately 1,000 acres of land through a joint agreement with farmers and landowners. After encountering some obstacles with their original plan to develop sites at Ballahalli, MUDA has now selected 250 acres in Daaripura village in Jayapura hobli and 750 acres in Bommenahalli village in Yelwal hobli. Many farmers have agreed to participate in the development project with MUDA under a 50:50 ratio.
According to MUDA Chairman Yashashwi S. Somashekar, the farmers have begun submitting consent letters for the proposed 50:50 ratio development project. This arrangement will be beneficial for farmers as they will receive developed sites in exchange for their land. Each farmer will be given a 10-lakh rupee advance, which they can either repay or have it adjusted against the sites. The 1,000 acres of land could potentially accommodate around 12,000 sites, with 18 sites planned for each acre.
This would be MUDA’s first-ever 50:50 layout development project if everything goes smoothly. A meeting with the government to discuss the layout development will be scheduled soon as the MUDA has already obtained 50% of the required consent letters from farmers. The MUDA is ready to start work on the project even if it receives 100% of the consent letters needed for the joint venture.
