In a bid to combat unauthorized constructions and encroachments, the Nashik Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (NMRDA) is gearing up for significant action. Covering a substantial region, including Nashik, Trimbakeshwar, Dindori, Niphad, Sinnar, and Igatpuri, the NMRDA is taking a proactive stance to tackle haphazard construction practices.

SatishKumar Khadke, the Commissioner of NMRDA, has revealed the authority's plans to develop a comprehensive regional strategy. This strategy is expected to emphasize revenue generation and self-sustainability while addressing the challenges posed by unauthorized constructions within the region.

The upcoming development plan, set to be submitted to the state government, will lay a strong emphasis on establishing well-defined industrial and recreational zones. This strategic move aims to streamline construction practices and curb unauthorized developments.

Khadke highlighted the significant financial losses incurred by the state government due to unauthorized constructions. In response, the NMRDA has initiated the process of issuing notices to owners of such unauthorized structures, urging them to regularize their properties. These unauthorized constructions encompass various structures, ranging from residential houses to industrial units.

The region currently grapples with over 30,000 cases of encroachments and unauthorized constructions, with notifications already sent out for approximately 2,000 of them. Efforts are underway to identify these encroachments systematically, with a simplified permissions process in the works to encourage property owners to regularize their constructions.

Khadke emphasized that all unauthorized constructions and encroachments on government land would be dealt with swiftly, marking a pivotal step towards curbing disorganized development.

Additionally, the NMRDA is witnessing a surge in industrial development within the region. Business owners are increasingly drawn to the Nashik area due to its advantages, such as affordable land availability, reduced operational costs, and excellent connectivity to major hubs like Mumbai and Pune. As a result, several significant industrial warehousing and logistics projects are establishing operations within the NMRDA jurisdiction, heralding a positive outlook for the region's economic landscape.
