Bhilai-based Simplex Castings Ltd reported a strong financial performance for FY26, with revenue from operations rising 18% year-on-year to INR 202.9 crore and profit after tax increasing by more than 40% to INR 21.26 crore. The precision metallurgy and engineering company also recorded EBITDA growth of over 20% during the year. Alongside its operational performance, the company reduced both long-term and short-term borrowings, strengthening its balance sheet and improving cash flow generation.

Building on its financial performance, the company has secured approval from the Research Designs & Standards Organisation (RDSO), under the Ministry of Railways, to undertake prototype testing of Cast Steel CASNUB Bogies and other critical railway wagon components. The approval enables the company to re-enter a business segment that previously constituted a significant part of its operations.

According to the company, the railway vertical is expected to become an important contributor to future growth. Management estimates that the segment could generate approximately INR 50 crore in revenue by the end of the current financial year and exceed INR 100 crore by the end of the following financial year.

To support its expansion plans, Simplex Castings has initiated capital expenditure at its manufacturing facilities and is pursuing opportunities under railway procurement programmes. The company is preparing to strengthen its presence in the rail infrastructure sector through the development and qualification of specialised railway components.

The RDSO approval covers a range of products, including Cast Steel Side Frames, Cast Steel Bolsters, Centre Pivot Assemblies, and CASNUB 22HS/22HS(M) and 22RFT bogies. Upon successful qualification under prescribed RDSO standards, the company will become eligible to participate in railway tenders and supply products for Indian Railways projects.

The development comes amid continued investment by Indian Railways in freight corridors, wagon modernisation initiatives and logistics infrastructure. Simplex Castings stated that its historical presence in the cast bogie segment, combined with its engineering and manufacturing capabilities, positions the railway sector as a natural area for business expansion. The company views the segment as a key component of its long-term growth strategy as railway infrastructure spending and freight transportation requirements continue to increase across the country.
