• East Central Railway (ECR) has extended operations of Bihar-Delhi clone special trains till July 16 to manage sustained passenger demand during the summer travel season.
• The extension covers special services operating between key Bihar cities and Delhi, where passenger traffic has remained high over recent weeks.
• Indian Railways has continued operating additional special trains across multiple zones to ease congestion and support long-distance travel demand during peak periods.
East Central Railway (ECR) has extended the services of Bihar-Delhi clone special trains till July 16 as Indian Railways continue efforts to manage heavy passenger movement during the ongoing summer travel season.
Railway officials stated that the extension has been approved due to continued high demand on routes connecting Bihar with the national capital region. Passenger traffic on long-distance trains operating between Delhi and major Bihar cities has remained elevated over the past several weeks, particularly during the summer vacation period and festive travel movement.
The extended services include clone special trains operating on key routes linking Patna and other Bihar stations with Delhi. Railway authorities indicated that the additional trains are intended to reduce waiting lists, ease pressure on regular services and improve availability of reserved berths for passengers travelling on the corridor.
Indian Railways has increasingly relied on clone specials and seasonal special trains to handle surges in travel demand across major inter-state routes. Such trains are generally introduced on heavily congested sectors where passenger reservations on regular services remain consistently high.
Officials stated that railway zones across the country have been operating multiple special services during the peak summer season to support movement of migrant workers, students, tourists and family travellers. Additional coaches and temporary train services have also been introduced on several high-demand routes.
The Bihar-Delhi rail corridor remains one of the country’s busiest long-distance passenger sectors due to strong economic, educational and labour movement links between the two regions. Demand for train travel on this route typically rises sharply during school holidays, examination periods and seasonal migration cycles.
Railway authorities have simultaneously focused on improving passenger management through operational adjustments, additional rake deployment and enhanced scheduling flexibility during peak travel periods. Officials noted that extending special train services helps reduce overcrowding and operational stress on existing routes.
Indian Railways has undertaken broader efforts in recent years to strengthen long-distance connectivity through additional train services, network upgrades and capacity enhancement projects across major corridors. Infrastructure expansion, electrification and station redevelopment initiatives are also underway across multiple railway zones.
The extension of special train operations comes amid continued growth in passenger traffic across India’s rail network, which remains one of the country’s primary modes of long-distance transport. Railway authorities have indicated that operational decisions regarding further extensions or additional services will depend on passenger demand trends in the coming weeks.
Passengers travelling on the extended special services have been advised to check updated schedules, operational dates and reservation availability through official railway booking platforms and notification systems.
