NILE Hospitality has announced the signing of a 120-key Courtyard by Marriott in Somnath, Gujarat, as hospitality operators continue to expand branded accommodation offerings in religious tourism destinations across India.

The company disclosed the signing earlier this week, stating that the hotel is intended to cater to the growing number of travellers visiting Somnath, which remains one of the country’s prominent pilgrimage centres and attracts year-round tourist movement.

According to the company, the project aligns with its broader strategy of introducing international hotel brands into emerging destinations with cultural and spiritual significance. The development is expected to strengthen organised hospitality infrastructure in the region, where tourism activity has been increasing alongside improvements in connectivity and local infrastructure.

Vikram Singh Chauhan, founder and chief executive officer of NILE Hospitality, stated that the company was bringing the Courtyard by Marriott brand to Somnath with the objective of enhancing hospitality standards along the travel corridor. He indicated that the project forms part of the company’s focus on expanding quality hotel offerings beyond traditional metropolitan and business markets.

Somnath, located on the western coast of Gujarat, is known for the Somnath Temple and remains a major religious tourism destination. In recent years, pilgrimage circuits and spiritual tourism hubs across India have witnessed increased interest from hospitality operators, driven by rising domestic travel demand and government-led infrastructure development initiatives.

The hotel signing also reflects the growing participation of branded hospitality operators in tier-II and pilgrimage-focused markets, where developers and hotel management firms are seeking to capture demand from leisure, religious and experiential travel segments.

Marriott International continues to expand its presence across India through multiple brands spanning luxury, premium and mid-market hospitality segments. The Courtyard by Marriott brand has seen expansion across both metropolitan cities and emerging regional destinations as operators seek to widen their footprint in domestic travel markets.

NILE Hospitality has been focusing on management and development partnerships across hotel projects in India, particularly in destinations witnessing increased tourism and infrastructure-led growth. The Somnath project adds to the company’s portfolio of hospitality developments in culturally significant markets.
