Synopsis

KPI Green Energy has secured an INR 621 crore contract from NTPC Renewable Energy for balance of system works related to a 500 MW solar PV project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. The order has been split into 300 MW and 200 MW blocks and includes supply, transportation, installation, testing, commissioning, civil works and maintenance services. The project marks KPI Green Energy’s entry into Rajasthan’s renewable energy market, a state that has emerged as a major hub for large-scale solar developments due to its strong solar radiation, land availability and expanding clean energy infrastructure.

KPI Green Energy has received an INR 621 crore order from NTPC Renewable Energy for balance of system works linked to the development of a 500 MW solar PV project in Bikaner, Rajasthan, according to a regulatory filing made by the company.

NTPC Renewable Energy, a subsidiary of NTPC Green Energy, issued the notifications of award for the project. The contract has been divided into two parts comprising a 300 MW block and a 200 MW block.

In solar power projects, the balance of system package generally includes electrical systems, mounting structures, transmission-related components and supporting infrastructure required for the functioning of the plant apart from the solar modules themselves.

The scope of work under the contract includes supply of plant and equipment, inland transportation, insurance, installation, testing and commissioning of the project. It also covers civil and allied works along with comprehensive operation and maintenance services for three years from the commercial operation date. In addition, the agreement includes a 10-year annual maintenance contract.

The total contract value stands at INR 621 crore excluding GST. Out of this, the 300 MW block has been valued at INR 367 crore, while the 200 MW block is worth INR 254 crore.

The company stated that the project marks its entry into Rajasthan, which has become one of India’s key renewable energy destinations due to its large-scale solar capacity additions and policy support for clean energy projects. Bikaner has particularly seen rising activity in utility-scale solar developments as developers continue to expand renewable energy capacity in northern India.

KPI Green Energy has been expanding its presence in the renewable energy sector through both independent power production and engineering, procurement and construction-related services. The latest order further strengthens its project execution portfolio in the utility-scale solar segment.
