Synopsis

Celcius Logistics and Ottobock India have opened a dedicated warehousing facility in Thane to support the storage and distribution of prosthetics and specialised medical devices across India. The 3,000 sq ft facility at Wagle Estate has been developed to manage over 2,000 stock keeping units and serve 24 clinics along with more than 200 independent partners. Under a five-year agreement, Celcius Logistics will manage warehousing and transportation operations for Ottobock India. The companies said the partnership aims to strengthen supply-chain reliability for critical healthcare products while improving delivery efficiency and inventory management. The warehouse also includes temperature-controlled storage infrastructure, and capacity is expected to be expanded by 25% over the next year.

Celcius Logistics and Ottobock India have operationalised a specialised warehousing facility in Thane, Maharashtra, as demand rises for organised logistics infrastructure catering to healthcare and medical device distribution.

The warehouse, located at Wagle Estate, has been developed to support storage and nationwide distribution of prosthetics and other critical medical products. According to a joint statement issued by the companies earlier this week, the facility spans around 3,000 sq ft and has been designed to improve inventory management and delivery timelines for sensitive healthcare equipment.

The facility includes ambient storage infrastructure, 110 slotted racks and more than 700 dedicated bin locations. It also houses a temperature-controlled storage area intended for medical products requiring regulated environmental conditions during storage and handling.

The warehouse is expected to manage over 2,000 stock keeping units (SKUs) and support a distribution network comprising 24 clinics and more than 200 independent channel partners across the country.

Under a five-year logistics agreement, Celcius Logistics will handle end-to-end warehouse operations and transportation services for Ottobock India, the Indian arm of German prosthetics manufacturer Ottobock. The arrangement includes inventory movement, warehousing management and logistics coordination for specialised healthcare products.

Swarup Bose, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Celcius Logistics, indicated that the partnership is aimed at creating a stronger and more responsive logistics ecosystem for high-value medical equipment. He stated that efficient warehousing and transportation systems are becoming increasingly important in the healthcare sector, particularly for products where delivery timelines and storage standards directly influence patient access.

Ottobock India Managing Director Mats Frank said reliable supply-chain infrastructure remains closely linked to patient outcomes and accessibility of prosthetic solutions. He noted that the partnership with Celcius Logistics would help improve the company’s ability to deliver products efficiently across India while maintaining quality and storage standards.

The companies also confirmed plans to increase warehouse capacity by approximately 25% over the next year in response to growing operational requirements.

The development reflects broader expansion in India’s specialised healthcare logistics segment, where companies are increasingly investing in temperature-sensitive storage infrastructure, organised warehousing and integrated distribution systems to support rising demand for medical devices and healthcare products.
