Indigenous technology company HFCL has secured a five-year annual maintenance contract worth nearly INR 135.09 crore from RailTel Corporation of India for data centres developed under the Secure Operations Network project for Indian defence forces, according to a regulatory filing issued on Wednesday.
The contract relates to infrastructure that HFCL had previously implemented under a project awarded by RailTel for defence establishments across the country. Earlier, the company had completed the design, supply, installation and commissioning of one central data centre along with 120 mini data centres at multiple Indian defence locations.
The latest contract covers annual maintenance services for the deployed infrastructure and network systems. According to the company, the scope of work includes preventive and corrective maintenance, network monitoring, incident management, performance optimisation and round-the-clock technical support services.
The Secure Operations Network project is aimed at strengthening secure communication and digital infrastructure capabilities for Indian defence forces. The data centre network developed under the project supports operational connectivity and secure information management across defence establishments.
HFCL has been expanding its presence in telecom, optical fibre, defence communication systems and digital infrastructure projects in recent years. The company has also been involved in government-backed network deployment projects, including broadband connectivity and surveillance-related infrastructure.
RailTel, a public sector enterprise under the Ministry of Railways, has been actively executing telecom, data centre and digital infrastructure projects for various government departments and strategic sectors. The company has also been focusing on modernisation of communication infrastructure and expansion of secure network systems.
The latest order is expected to provide long-term service revenue visibility for HFCL while strengthening its relationship with RailTel in strategic infrastructure projects linked to defence communication and secure network management.
