Synopsis

PVV Infra is expanding its presence in India’s highway infrastructure sector with plans to pursue 13 National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) wayside amenities projects across key road corridors. The company has already bid for projects on the Gwalior-Jhansi stretch and near Ujjain, while more bids are being prepared for the Delhi-Dehradun corridor. The proposed developments will include fuel stations, EV charging points, food courts, truck terminals, retail spaces and rest facilities. The move comes as NHAI continues to push organised highway infrastructure to support rising traffic movement, logistics demand and long-distance travel across the country.

PVV Infra said it is strengthening its presence in the highway infrastructure segment and is currently pursuing 13 wayside amenities (WSA) projects being developed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) across major highway corridors in the country.

The company stated that it has already submitted bids for three projects, including one on the Gwalior-Jhansi highway stretch and two projects near Ujjain. It is also preparing bids for two additional sites on the Delhi-Dehradun corridor. Along with these projects, the company has identified eight more locations across important corridors including Raipur-Vizag, Bengaluru-Chennai, Ujjain-Garoth and Delhi-Dehradun in states such as Madhya Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh.

According to the company, the proposed projects are being planned as integrated highway service hubs designed for both passenger and commercial vehicle traffic. The facilities are expected to include fuel stations, EV charging infrastructure, food courts, quick-service restaurants, truck parking zones, dormitories, healthcare facilities, retail outlets, hospitality spaces and premium rest areas for travellers.

PVV Infra said its role will mainly focus on creating the core infrastructure required for these developments. This includes civil infrastructure for fuel stations, utility systems, parking facilities, logistics support infrastructure and hospitality-related construction. The company added that organised wayside amenities are becoming an important part of India’s growing highway ecosystem as vehicle movement and freight traffic continue to increase on major road networks.

The expansion also aligns with NHAI’s larger plan to develop modern highway-side infrastructure across national highways and expressways. In the past few years, NHAI and National Highways Logistics Management Limited (NHLML) have increased focus on building organised rest stops and traveller facilities at regular intervals on highways to improve road safety, logistics efficiency and travel convenience. Several highway corridors developed under the Bharatmala programme are also expected to support demand for such infrastructure.

Industry experts have been highlighting the growing need for structured highway amenities as India witnesses higher freight transportation, rising private vehicle ownership and increasing intercity road travel. The rise in electric vehicle adoption has also increased demand for EV charging infrastructure along highways, especially on high-density economic corridors connecting major cities.

PVV Infra stated that the WSA segment offers long-term revenue opportunities through lease rentals, retail partnerships, hospitality operations, logistics support services and EV charging facilities. The company also indicated that these projects could create partnership opportunities with fuel retailers, hospitality operators, healthcare providers, restaurant chains and EV charging companies for integrated highway infrastructure development.

The company’s expansion into the wayside amenities segment comes at a time when highway infrastructure investment in India continues to remain strong. Over the last few years, the government has accelerated the construction of expressways, economic corridors and logistics routes to improve connectivity and support industrial and commercial activity across regions.
