With this addition, IHCL’s portfolio in Kerala will increase to 23 hotels, including five properties that are currently under development.
Indian Hotels Company Limited has signed a 55-key brownfield Tree of Life resort in Wayanad, Kerala, further strengthening its leisure hospitality portfolio in South India. The company announced the development in the past week, stating that the project will mark the debut of the Tree of Life brand in Kerala.
The resort is being developed in partnership with Saeed Edavankandy and is expected to cater to the rising demand for experiential and nature-focused tourism in Wayanad, one of Kerala’s key hill destinations. The property will add to IHCL’s growing focus on leisure-driven markets, where travel demand has remained strong over the past few years.
IHCL Executive Vice President – Real Estate and Development, Suma Venkatesh said the signing reflects the company’s strategy of expanding the Tree of Life brand in high-potential leisure destinations across the country. She added that the company was pleased to partner with Saeed Edavankandy for the project.
Tree of Life is IHCL’s boutique leisure brand that focuses on immersive stays and smaller-format resorts located in culturally and environmentally rich destinations. The brand has been gradually expanding its presence across India as domestic leisure travel continues to see steady growth.
The latest signing will take IHCL’s total portfolio in Kerala to 23 hotels, including five properties currently under development. The company already operates several hotels across key tourism and business destinations in the state under brands such as Taj, Vivanta and Ginger.
Kerala has continued to attract hospitality investments due to its strong tourism appeal, wellness sector and increasing domestic travel demand. Wayanad in particular has seen rising interest from hotel operators and resort developers because of its eco-tourism potential and improving connectivity.
