The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of 854.97 acres in Vizianagaram district to Reliance Industries for the development of a giga-scale artificial intelligence data centre and cable landing station project with a proposed investment of INR 1.08 lakh crore. The land has been allotted at a 25% discounted rate, according to a government order issued on Wednesday. The project site spans Polipalli, Bhogapuram West and Bhogapuram East villages, identified by the Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation. Alongside the land allotment, the state government approved multiple fiscal and non-fiscal incentives, including subsidies, exemptions and waivers, for the proposed development. Authorities have also been directed to identify an additional acre for the cable landing station component of the project.
The Andhra Pradesh government has approved the allotment of 854.97 acres of land in Vizianagaram district to Reliance Industries at a 25% discounted rate for the establishment of a giga-scale artificial intelligence data centre and cable landing station project with a proposed cumulative investment of INR 1.08 lakh crore.
The approval was issued through a Government Order on Wednesday by Information Technology Secretary Bhaskar Katamneni, who also directed the Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and the Vizianagaram district administration to identify an additional acre of land suitable for the proposed cable landing station infrastructure.
According to the Government Order, the land allotment has been approved specifically for the establishment of a “Giga-Scale AIDC with CLS”, referring to an Artificial Intelligence Data Centre integrated with a Cable Landing Station facility. The proposed project is expected to become one of the largest digital infrastructure investments announced in the state.
The Andhra Pradesh Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation identified the land parcels for the project across Polipalli, Bhogapuram West and Bhogapuram East villages in Vizianagaram district.
Apart from the concessional land allotment, the state government approved a range of customised fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for Reliance Industries. These include exemptions, subsidies, reimbursements, waivers, discounts and other incentives aimed at supporting the execution of the proposed project.
The development reflects Andhra Pradesh’s increasing focus on attracting large-scale technology and digital infrastructure investments, particularly in sectors linked to artificial intelligence, cloud computing and data storage. Data centre investments have accelerated across India in recent years as demand rises from hyperscalers, AI platforms and digital service providers seeking large-scale computing infrastructure supported by stable power and connectivity networks.
The inclusion of a Cable Landing Station within the proposed project is expected to strengthen international data connectivity infrastructure in the region. Cable landing stations serve as critical gateways for submarine internet cables, enabling high-capacity global data transmission and supporting large-scale cloud and data centre operations.
The proposed project site near Bhogapuram also aligns with the state’s broader infrastructure development plans in north coastal Andhra Pradesh, where the government has been promoting investments linked to technology, logistics and industrial development.
Reliance Industries has been expanding its digital and technology infrastructure portfolio through investments in telecommunications, cloud services, artificial intelligence and digital connectivity ecosystems. The proposed Vizianagaram project represents a significant addition to India’s expanding data centre and AI infrastructure landscape.
