Authorities in Gurugram carried out a major demolition drive in Saraswati Kunj, Sector 53, along the Golf Course Road corridor, where around 850 illegal shanties were removed. The action was led by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) with police support as part of an ongoing enforcement campaign against unauthorised occupation on government-notified land. Officials confirmed that the structures violated land-use regulations and had been built without approvals. The operation was completed peacefully and forms part of continued efforts to reclaim and secure public land in the region.
Authorities in Gurugram intensified their anti-encroachment action in Saraswati Kunj, Sector 53, by demolishing nearly 850 illegal shanties located along the Golf Course Road corridor. The drive was conducted by the Department of Town and Country Planning (DTCP) in coordination with police teams to ensure smooth execution and prevent any disturbance during the operation.
Officials stated that the demolished structures were constructed without valid approvals on government-notified land. The encroachments were found to be in violation of land-use rules and planning regulations applicable to the area. Authorities added that such unauthorised occupation has been a recurring issue in Saraswati Kunj, despite repeated restrictions and earlier enforcement actions in the locality.
The demolition drive is part of a continuing enforcement programme aimed at clearing illegal settlements and preventing further encroachment on public land. Saraswati Kunj has seen multiple regulatory actions in the past due to long-standing disputes over land use and unauthorised development activities. Despite monitoring, fresh illegal structures have continued to appear over time, prompting repeated interventions from authorities.
The operation was carried out in a controlled manner with adequate police deployment to maintain order at the site. Officials confirmed that the drive concluded without any major law and order issues. Further monitoring is expected in the area to ensure that no re-encroachment takes place and that government land remains protected from future illegal occupation.
