• Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a 105-key brownfield gateway resort project in Bharatpur, Rajasthan.
• The company said Bharatpur is witnessing rising demand for experiential tourism, destination weddings and MICE activities due to its strategic location and bird sanctuary.
• With the new signing, IHCL’s Rajasthan portfolio will increase to 67 hotels, including 24 under development.
• Separately, Hilton has signed a 96-key Hilton Garden Inn hotel in Kompally, Hyderabad, which is expected to open in 2028.
• Hilton said it plans to significantly expand its India portfolio in the coming years, targeting both major gateway cities and emerging business destinations.
Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has signed a 105-key brownfield gateway resort project in Bharatpur, Rajasthan, as the hospitality major continues to strengthen its presence across high-potential leisure and cultural destinations in the country.
The company said Bharatpur’s strategic location and the presence of the well-known bird sanctuary are helping the city emerge as a preferred destination for experiential tourism. The market is also seeing growing demand from destination weddings and MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions) activities, which has encouraged hospitality companies to expand in the region.
IHCL Executive Vice President – Real Estate and Development, Suma Venkatesh said the company was pleased to partner with Yadur Kapur for the project. The proposed resort is expected to cater to both leisure travellers and event-driven hospitality demand in Rajasthan.
Rajasthan remains one of IHCL’s strongest markets due to its steady tourism inflows, heritage destinations and luxury hospitality demand. With the latest signing, IHCL’s portfolio in the state will increase to 67 hotels, including 24 projects currently under development. The company has been steadily expanding through a mix of luxury, heritage and gateway properties across major tourist circuits in the state.
In a separate development, global hospitality company Hilton announced the signing of a 96-key hotel in Kompally, Hyderabad. The upcoming property will operate under the Hilton Garden Inn brand and will mark Hilton’s third hotel in the city.
The hotel is being developed by Fairmount and Friends LLP, which is part of the Fairmount Group. According to the company, the property is expected to open in 2028 and will cater to both business and leisure travellers in the growing Hyderabad market.
Clarence Tan, Senior Vice President, Development, Asia Pacific at Hilton, said the company’s focused-service brands such as Hilton Garden Inn are playing an important role in expanding its India portfolio. He added that Hilton is aiming to grow from around 40 operational hotels in India currently to more than 400 properties over the coming years. The latest signing, he said, reflects Hilton’s strategy of building a balanced presence across established gateway cities as well as emerging business destinations.
Hyderabad has continued to attract hospitality investments due to rising commercial activity, IT sector growth and increasing domestic travel demand. Areas such as Kompally have also witnessed growing real estate and infrastructure development in recent years, prompting hotel operators to explore expansion opportunities beyond the city’s core business districts.
