Bhajanlal Sharma on Friday inaugurated Rajasthan’s first semiconductor cluster at Bhiwadi and said the state government had introduced 35 policies during the past two years to encourage investment and create an industry-friendly business environment across sectors.
Addressing the event virtually from the chief minister’s residence in Jaipur, Sharma stated that the Rajasthan government was working to position the state as a major industrial destination by accelerating investments in manufacturing, infrastructure and renewable energy. He said the semiconductor cluster represented an important development in Rajasthan’s industrial expansion plans.
The chief minister said work was progressing on connecting Rajasthan with Delhi through the Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) via Haryana. He also referred to ongoing implementation of the Yamuna water agreement and announced plans to establish a large industrial area near Bandikui in Alwar district as part of the state’s industrial infrastructure expansion.
Sharma stated that Rajasthan was also rapidly advancing in renewable energy generation, including solar and wind power projects, as the government sought to strengthen the state’s position in the energy sector alongside industrial manufacturing.
The programme additionally marked the inauguration and foundation laying of several infrastructure and industrial projects in Khairthal-Tijara district. These included the Elsina Electronics Complex and a 34 million litres per day sewage treatment plant, according to an official release issued during the event.
Ashwini Vaishnaw, who attended the programme virtually, said semiconductor manufacturing had become a critical sector for India’s industrial growth and technology ecosystem. He stated that the country currently had 12 semiconductor plants manufacturing chips for multiple devices and industrial applications.
Vaishnaw said electronics manufacturing in India had increased six-fold over the past 12 years to INR 13 lakh crore. He added that mobile phones had emerged as the country’s leading export commodity during the period.
According to the Union minister, the Bhiwadi electronics manufacturing cluster involves an investment of INR 1,200 crore and is expected to generate employment opportunities for around 2,500 people.
Bhupender Yadav stated that the government was committed to developing Bhiwadi as a manufacturing hub focused on semiconductors and electronics production alongside the automobile sector, which already has a strong industrial presence in the region.
