Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) has partnered with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five hotels across major airport-linked and urban growth destinations, including Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram. The agreement will add nearly 1,500 hotel keys across multiple brands and also mark the India debut of IHG’s luxury lifestyle brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants. The move comes as airport-led developments continue to gain traction amid rising domestic travel, tourism and business movement. AAHL said the partnership aligns with its larger strategy of building integrated airport cities combining hospitality, retail and commercial infrastructure.
Adani Airport Holdings Ltd (AAHL) has signed an agreement with IHG Hotels & Resorts to develop five hotels across key airport-linked and high-growth urban destinations, strengthening hospitality infrastructure around some of India’s expanding aviation hubs.
The proposed developments will add close to 1,500 hotel keys across multiple brands and locations, with projects planned across Jaipur, Mangaluru, Thiruvananthapuram and the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR). The partnership also includes developments linked to Mumbai, Navi Mumbai and Ahmedabad airport ecosystems.
The agreement marks the entry of IHG’s luxury lifestyle boutique brand, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants, into the Indian market. The portfolio will include a Kimpton hotel in Jaipur along with Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express properties planned within upcoming mixed-use airport city developments being built by Adani Airport Holdings.
AAHL stated that it is also in advanced discussions with IHG Hotels & Resorts to further expand the partnership in the coming years as demand for hospitality infrastructure rises around airport-led developments.
Pranav Adani, Director of Adani Enterprises Limited, said the group is expanding its presence across hospitality and airport-led urban infrastructure with a focus on creating integrated destinations that combine travel, hospitality and urban experiences around India’s growing aviation network.
He further stated that the company is building the platform in partnership with international hotel operators that bring global operational standards and scale. According to him, the collaboration with IHG Hotels & Resorts is an important step towards strengthening quality hospitality infrastructure aligned with India’s long-term travel and economic growth.
The development comes at a time when airport-led urban projects are increasingly emerging as hospitality and commercial centres due to growing passenger traffic, domestic tourism and business travel demand. Over the past few years, several airport operators and infrastructure companies have expanded into mixed-use developments that combine hotels, retail, office spaces and entertainment zones around airports.
Known globally for its design-led hotels and boutique luxury positioning, Kimpton’s India entry reflects rising demand for premium lifestyle hospitality experiences, particularly in gateway cities and tourism-driven markets.
Sudeep Jain, Managing Director, South West Asia, IHG Hotels & Resorts, said the partnership with AAHL reflects the strong long-term opportunity in India’s hospitality sector, especially across airport-led developments and gateway destinations that are witnessing demand from business, leisure and transit travellers.
He added that the new portfolio, spread across luxury, premium and essential hotel brands, will help IHG strengthen its presence in high-growth markets across the country.
IHG Hotels & Resorts currently operates 52 hotels across six brands in India and has a pipeline of 98 additional hotels expected to open over the next three to five years. The company has been steadily expanding its presence in India amid increasing travel demand and improving hospitality sector performance.
AAHL currently operates airports in Mumbai, Navi Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jaipur, Lucknow, Guwahati, Mangaluru and Thiruvananthapuram. Through its airport city developments spread across nearly 663 acres in key cities, the company is developing integrated urban ecosystems that combine aviation infrastructure with hospitality, retail, commercial and social spaces.
The latest partnership highlights the growing role of airport-centric developments in shaping urban expansion and hospitality growth across India. With rising passenger movement and increasing investment in aviation infrastructure, airport cities are gradually becoming major commercial and mixed-use destinations. The collaboration between AAHL and IHG also signals growing investor confidence in long-term travel demand and the potential for organised hospitality development around emerging urban corridors.
