Wipro Hydraulics, part of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Italy-based Indeco Ind Spa, marking its entry into the hydraulic attachments segment. Indeco, established in 1976, manufactures demolition and construction equipment such as hydraulic hammers and shears, with operations across Italy and the US. The transaction is expected to expand Wipro's product portfolio beyond hydraulic cylinders while strengthening its global manufacturing and distribution footprint. The founding Vitulano family will continue to remain operationally involved in the business. The deal also provides Indeco access to enhanced research and development capabilities and Wipro's global network, supporting further product development and organisational growth.
Wipro Hydraulics, a division of Wipro Infrastructure Engineering, has signed a definitive agreement to acquire a majority stake in Italy-based Indeco Ind Spa, as part of its strategy to diversify its product portfolio and expand into the hydraulic attachments segment.
The transaction, announced in the past week, will enable the company to move beyond its core hydraulic cylinder business and enter a complementary segment catering to construction, demolition and recycling industries. Indeco, established in 1976, manufactures a range of hydraulic attachments including hammers, mulching heads, shears and other demolition equipment.
The Italy-headquartered company operates seven manufacturing facilities in Italy and one in the United States, providing it with an established production and distribution base across key global markets. The acquisition is expected to strengthen Wipro Hydraulics international footprint by integrating Indeco's manufacturing capabilities and distribution network with its existing operations.
Sitaram Ganeshan, president of Wipro Hydraulics, indicated that the acquisition would broaden the company's product offering by adding hydraulic attachments to its existing portfolio of hydraulic cylinders. He stated that the combined entity would benefit from an expanded manufacturing and distribution footprint, along with access to specialised talent, enhancing its ability to serve customers across multiple industrial segments.
Despite the majority stake acquisition, the founding Vitulano family will continue to remain involved in the company's operations, ensuring continuity in management and business strategy. Susanna Vitulano, chief executive of Indeco, indicated that Wipro would support the company's next phase of growth, adding that the partnership would enable Indeco to leverage enhanced research and development capabilities and access a wider global network.
Wipro Hydraulics currently designs and manufactures custom-built hydraulic cylinders for a range of sectors, including construction and earthmoving, material and cargo handling, forestry, agriculture, mining and truck tipping applications. The addition of hydraulic attachments is expected to complement these offerings by enabling the company to provide a broader suite of solutions to its existing customer base.
The move reflects a broader trend among industrial manufacturers to expand into adjacent product categories through acquisitions, allowing them to diversify revenue streams and strengthen their position in global supply chains. With this acquisition, Wipro Hydraulics is seeking to enhance its competitive positioning by combining its engineering capabilities with Indeco's specialised product portfolio and established market presence.
