Synopsis

CAE Simulation Training Pvt Ltd (CSTPL), a joint venture between InterGlobe Enterprises and Canada-based CAE, has inaugurated a 44,000 sq ft pilot training facility in Mumbai, marking its fourth centre in India. The facility has commenced operations with an Airbus A320 full-flight simulator and is designed to support type rating, recurrent training and proficiency checks. A second A320 simulator is scheduled to be added in the near term, with capacity to scale up to six simulators over time. The centre forms part of CSTPL's broader network, which spans Greater Noida, Gurugram and Bengaluru. The expansion comes amid rising demand for pilot training as India's aviation sector grows, with projections indicating a requirement for around 22,000 new pilots over the next decade.

CAE Simulation Training Pvt Ltd (CSTPL), a joint venture between InterGlobe Enterprises and Canada-based CAE, inaugurated a 44,000 sq ft pilot training facility in Mumbai in the past week, marking its fourth such centre in India as the company expands capacity in response to the country's growing aviation demand.

The facility has commenced operations with an Airbus A320 full-flight simulator (FFS), forming the first phase of capacity at the centre. The company has outlined plans to induct a second A320 simulator later in the year, with the infrastructure designed to accommodate up to six full-flight simulators over time, depending on market requirements.

Located in Mumbai, one of India's primary aviation hubs, the centre is intended to support a range of pilot training services, including type rating, recurrent training and proficiency checks. These services will be integrated with CSTPL's broader training network across Greater Noida, Gurugram and Bengaluru, enabling airlines to access simulation-based training closer to their operational bases.

The company stated that the expansion is aligned with the increasing size of India's aircraft fleet and the corresponding demand for trained pilots. Industry projections cited by the company indicate that India will require approximately 22,000 new pilots by the mid-2030s to sustain growth in its aviation sector.

CSTPL's network currently operates 16 full-flight simulators across its centres, with plans to scale this capacity to 23 simulators in the coming years. The addition of the Mumbai facility contributes to this expansion and strengthens the company's position in the domestic pilot training segment.

Management indicated that the new centre enhances the company's ability to deliver high-fidelity simulation training within India, reducing reliance on overseas training infrastructure. It was conveyed that the facility is part of a broader strategy to align training capacity with market demand while maintaining operational efficiency.

The company also highlighted that the centre has been developed in partnership with InterGlobe Enterprises and forms part of CAE's global civil aviation training network. The expansion is aligned with its ongoing transformation strategy, which focuses on disciplined capacity deployment and demand-led growth across markets.

Officials from the company stated that India's aviation sector continues to see rapid expansion, requiring a steady pipeline of skilled professionals. The Mumbai facility, given its location, is expected to serve airlines operating from both Mumbai and Navi Mumbai airports, addressing evolving operational requirements in the region.

With this addition, CSTPL has further strengthened its footprint in India's aviation training ecosystem, while scaling infrastructure to meet long-term demand driven by fleet expansion and increased air travel.
