The under-construction bullet train station at Anand in Gujarat is progressing with structural works nearing completion, with its design drawing from the city's identity as India's Milk City. Developed as part of the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the station will span 44,073 sq m with a height of 25.6 metres. The three-level structure will feature modern passenger amenities, multimodal connectivity, and design elements inspired by milk droplets. Construction milestones, including slab casting and steel framework, have been completed, with finishing works underway. The station is expected to function as a regional transport hub, improving connectivity within Gujarat's key industrial and urban clusters.

The bullet train station at Anand in Gujarat, being developed under the Mumbai-Ahmedabad high-speed rail corridor, is progressing through advanced stages of construction, with its architectural design reflecting the city's identity as India's Milk City, officials stated earlier this week.


The project is being executed by the National High Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) as part of India's first high-speed rail corridor. The station's faade and interior design have been conceptualised to resemble the fluid form and colour of milk droplets, referencing Anand's association with the dairy sector and its status as a major hub for milk production.

The station will be developed as a three-level structure with a total built-up area of 44,073 sq m and a height of 25.6 metres. It will include two side platforms with four tracks in between, designed to accommodate high-speed rail operations along the corridor.

According to project details, the facility will incorporate a range of passenger amenities, including ticketing and waiting areas, restrooms, information counters, retail spaces, and a nursery. Skylight provisions have been integrated into the roof and exterior design to maximise natural lighting within the station premises.

The station is also being planned as a multimodal transport hub, with provisions for passenger pick-up and drop-off zones, along with parking facilities for cars, two-wheelers, buses, and autorickshaws. A pedestrian plaza is also being developed to facilitate smoother movement of passengers within the station precinct.

In terms of connectivity, the station is located approximately 600 metres from Uttarsanda railway station, while Nadiad Junction, a major rail hub, lies around 10 km away. The nearest airport is Vadodara Airport, located about 54 km from the site, with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad situated roughly 70 km away.

Construction progress has reached an advanced stage, with slab casting completed across all three levels of the station. Structural steel work for the roof, roof sheeting, and external faade has also been finished. Installation of lifts and escalators has been completed, while cladding work and staircase finishing are currently underway.

Officials indicated that the station is being developed with an emphasis on seamless passenger movement and integration with multiple modes of transport, aligning with the broader objective of improving inter-city connectivity along the high-speed rail corridor.

The Anand station is one of several planned stops along the Mumbai-Ahmedabad route, where station designs are being tailored to reflect local cultural and economic identities. The corridor is expected to enhance regional mobility and reduce travel time between major urban centres once operational.

The progress at Anand reflects continued execution of key infrastructure components of the high-speed rail project, with station construction advancing alongside track and viaduct development across the Gujarat stretch.
