Regional airline Star Air has announced the launch of scheduled services connecting Mundra, Gujarat, with six cities across western and northern India, with operations set to commence later this month. The expansion will include 38 direct weekly flights and additional one-stop services, collectively adding over 17,000 seats per month. Key destinations include Mumbai, Hindon (Delhi-NCR), Goa (Mopa), and Surat, alongside indirect connectivity to Kolhapur and Bhuj. The move is aimed at strengthening air access to Mundra, a major port and industrial hub, where direct connectivity has remained limited. Operated using Embraer E175 aircraft, the new routes are expected to support business travel, logistics movement, and regional economic activity, particularly in Gujarat's Kutch region.
Star Air announced in the past week that it will commence flight operations linking Mundra in Gujarat with six cities across western and northern India, with services scheduled to begin later this month. The airline will operate 38 direct weekly flights from the port city, alongside additional one-stop connections, in an effort to improve regional air connectivity and support economic activity centred around the Kutch region. The network expansion will establish direct links between Mundra and key destinations including Mumbai, Hindon in the Delhi-NCR region, Goa (Mopa), and Surat. In addition to these non-stop routes, the airline will introduce 16 weekly one-stop services connecting Mundra with Kolhapur and Bhuj, thereby extending its reach to a wider catchment of industrial and commercial centres.
According to the airline, the expanded schedule will add more than 17,000 seats per month, translating to approximately 4,104 additional seats on a weekly basis. The services will be operated using Embraer E175 aircraft configured with both business and economy class seating, reflecting the airline's focus on regional connectivity with a mix of passenger segments.
The introduction of scheduled air services to Mundra marks a notable development for the port city, which has emerged as a key industrial and logistics hub but has historically lacked direct commercial aviation links. Improved connectivity is expected to reduce travel time for business travellers, logistics professionals, and associated workforce operating in and around the port-led industrial ecosystem.
Company officials indicated that the initiative is intended to support trade, business mobility, and tourism flows across Gujarat and adjoining regions. The airline's chief executive stated that connecting Mundra with major urban centres would facilitate economic activity and improve accessibility for industries and individuals reliant on efficient transport links.
Mundra, located in the Kutch district, serves as one of India's largest commercial ports and plays a significant role in the country's cargo movement and industrial supply chains. The absence of direct aviation connectivity has been a constraint for time-sensitive travel and business operations. The new services are expected to address this gap by providing faster and more predictable access to key markets.
The expansion forms part of Star Air's broader network growth strategy, which has focused on strengthening regional aviation links beyond major metropolitan centres. By increasing flight frequencies and introducing new routes, the airline aims to improve connectivity to emerging economic nodes and support decentralised infrastructure development across the country.
