Authorities are moving ahead with repair work on the Yamuna Pushta Road to improve traffic movement as the upcoming Noida International Airport is expected to increase vehicle flow in the region. The stretch, which runs parallel to the Noida Expressway, is being strengthened to act as an alternative route and reduce congestion. The plan includes resurfacing damaged sections, improving connectivity gaps, and preparing the road for higher capacity usage, supported by parallel infrastructure projects being developed across Noida and Greater Noida.
Authorities have decided to take up repair work on the Yamuna Pushta Road to handle the expected rise in traffic once the Noida International Airport becomes operational. The road is being positioned as an important alternative to the Noida Expressway, which already faces heavy congestion during peak hours.
The stretch runs parallel to the expressway and connects key points between Delhi, Noida, and Greater Noida. Over time, several portions of the road have developed potholes and uneven surfaces, slowing down traffic and reducing its usability as a reliable route. Officials have acknowledged that improving this road is necessary before airport-related traffic begins to increase.
The repair plan focuses on resurfacing damaged patches, strengthening the base of the road, and fixing stretches that currently create bottlenecks. Work is expected to cover the section between Kalindi Kunj and Sector 135, along with other identified portions that require immediate attention. The project had been planned earlier with an estimated cost of around INR 30 crore, indicating that the groundwork for this upgrade was already in place.
Officials have indicated that once repaired, the road will help divert a portion of traffic away from the Noida Expressway. This is particularly important as entry and exit points such as DND Flyway and Kalindi Kunj continue to see high vehicle load. By improving the Pushta Road, authorities aim to create a more balanced traffic distribution instead of relying on a single main corridor.
The repair work is part of a wider infrastructure push linked to the airport. Traffic volume in the region is expected to increase significantly, and multiple projects are being planned to support this growth. There have been discussions to widen the Yamuna Pushta Road from four lanes to six lanes in phases, with future expansion kept as a possibility depending on traffic demand.
In addition to widening, an elevated corridor along the same alignment has also been proposed in earlier plans. This includes a long elevated stretch connecting Okhla Barrage to the Yamuna Expressway, aimed at providing a faster and uninterrupted route for airport-bound vehicles. While this remains at the planning stage, it reflects the broader intent to build parallel connectivity options.
Other supporting projects are also being developed to improve access to the Pushta Road. A proposed elevated link from the Mahamaya Flyover is expected to directly connect traffic to this route, while the Chilla Elevated Road project is likely to improve connectivity between Delhi and Noida. These developments are intended to work together to reduce pressure on existing roads.
Officials have maintained that the focus is not only on new infrastructure but also on improving existing routes that can immediately support traffic movement. Strengthening the Yamuna Pushta Road is seen as a practical step in this direction, especially given its location and connectivity advantage.
