Synopsis

ChargeZone and Tata.ev have launched a 720 kW EV charging hub at Khalapur on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway, aimed at strengthening intercity electric mobility. The facility, located at a busy food mall stop, can charge up to 10 vehicles simultaneously through five dispensers. It is the 75th site under their partnership, with plans to cross 100 locations on key highways. The hub also offers tariff benefits to Tata.ev users. The development reflects a growing focus on high-speed charging infrastructure along major travel corridors to support rising EV adoption.

ChargeZone, in collaboration with Tata.ev, has operationalised a co-branded EV charging hub at Khalapur on the Mumbai–Pune Expressway. The facility has a total installed capacity of 720 kW and is positioned along a high-traffic intercity route, where demand for reliable charging infrastructure has been steadily increasing with the rise in electric vehicle usage.

The hub is set up at a popular food mall stop on the expressway, making it accessible for both private and fleet users during long-distance travel. It is equipped with five charging dispensers and a total of 10 charging points, enabling multiple vehicles to charge at the same time. The system supports high-speed charging, with a boost capability of up to 360 kW, which helps reduce charging time and improves vehicle turnaround on a busy corridor.

Users of Tata.ev vehicles are being offered tariff benefits at this station, with discounts of up to 25 per cent. This is aimed at lowering operating costs for EV owners and encouraging more frequent use of highway charging infrastructure. The companies indicated that such pricing support is part of a broader effort to make intercity EV travel more practical.

This site marks the 75th charging location developed under the partnership between ChargeZone and Tata.ev. The collaboration has been gradually expanding its network across highways and urban centres. Both companies are working towards setting up more than 100 high-capacity charging hubs across key national corridors, focusing on routes that see consistent passenger and commercial traffic.

Tata.ev has been scaling its Mega Charger network over the past few years to improve charging access beyond city limits. Earlier deployments across select highways and metro regions were aimed at building a dependable network for long-distance travel. ChargeZone, on the other hand, has been investing in fast-charging infrastructure with higher capacity systems to handle growing EV volumes.

The Mumbai–Pune Expressway, spanning roughly 150 km, is among the busiest routes in the country and already has multiple EV charging points from different operators. However, high-capacity hubs like the Khalapur facility are expected to address gaps related to waiting time, charging speed, and availability during peak travel hours.
