Synopsis

The Chief Secretary of Andhra Pradesh inspected key ongoing infrastructure and development works in Amaravati during a field visit earlier this week. The review covered major projects including steel bridges under Seed Access Road Phase-3, land pooling scheme development in LPS Zone-5D, and the construction of iconic government towers. Officials presented updates on connectivity works, drainage, power networks, and administrative buildings being developed as part of the capital region plan. A detailed review meeting was also held at the APCRDA office to assess overall progress and planning for the capital city.

The Chief Secretary to the Government of Andhra Pradesh, G. Sai Prasad, carried out an on-site inspection of ongoing development works in Amaravati, the proposed capital city, earlier this week. During the visit, senior officials including ADC CMD D. Lakshmi Parthasarathy, APCRDA Commissioner V. Vijayaramaraju, AGICL MD S.V.R. Srinivas, and Additional Commissioners A. Bhargava Teja, Kollabattula Karthik, and G. Surya Sai Praveen Chand welcomed him and presented a detailed update on various projects.

The inspection began with a review of the steel bridge construction works across Buckingham Canal under Seed Access Road Phase-3. Officials explained that this bridge is being developed as an extension of the Seed Access Road and will serve as an alternative route connecting Karakatta Road. The Chief Secretary was also briefed on another steel bridge project currently being built across Kondaveeti Vagu, which is expected to strengthen connectivity within the capital region.

He then visited LPS Zone-5D near Abbarajupalem, which is being developed for allocation to farmers under the land pooling scheme. The zone spans 1,158.42 acres with an estimated development cost of INR 470.42 crore and includes the creation of 1,638 plots. Officials shared that development is being carried out in four blocks, with ongoing infrastructure works such as 37.10 km of internal roads, 34.01 km of sewerage network, 76.19 km of stormwater drains, 297.08 km of power and ICT network, and 78.30 km of reuse water pipeline network.

The Chief Secretary also reviewed the construction of iconic towers, which form a key part of the Amaravati capital city plan. The GAD Tower, designed as a 50-storey structure, is intended to house the Chief Minister’s office and general administration. Along with this, four additional towers are under construction for Heads of Departments, each planned with 40 floors. The combined project is estimated at INR 4,820 crore. The progress of structural work, including the core wall construction and diagrid column framework, was also explained during the inspection.

A final review meeting was held at the APCRDA office, where the Chief Secretary discussed the geographical layout and development strategy of Amaravati through a visual presentation. Senior officials of APCRDA participated in the discussion and shared updates on planning and execution stages of various components of the capital region.
