The drive was conducted following directions from the authority's enforcement wing, which had identified the site as a case of illegal plotting carried out without an approved layout plan.
As demolition activity began, a group of individuals gathered at the site and attempted to obstruct the operation. Officials reported that the situation escalated when stones were allegedly thrown at machinery, including a JCB deployed for the exercise, creating a tense environment and raising concerns over the safety of personnel present. In response, the team discontinued the drive and vacated the site to avoid further confrontation.
The enforcement exercise formed part of the authority's ongoing efforts to address unauthorised colonies and illegal plotting in peripheral areas of Lucknow, where rapid urban expansion has led to an increase in unapproved developments. Such layouts are typically established without adherence to planning norms, including road networks, drainage systems and open space provisions, leading to long-term infrastructure and service delivery challenges.
Officials indicated that the demolition drive had been initiated in compliance with legal orders and was aimed at removing foundational elements of the unauthorised colony, including internal roads, plot demarcations and partially constructed units. However, the resistance encountered on site disrupted the operation before it could be completed.
A zonal officer stated that the demolition would be carried out again with adequate police deployment to ensure that enforcement teams can proceed without obstruction. The authority is expected to coordinate with local law enforcement agencies to secure the site during the next phase of action.
