The Delhi government has planned the redevelopment of spaces under six flyovers through public-private partnerships to improve usability and urban aesthetics. The project will introduce green zones, murals, seating areas, lighting, and sanitation upgrades. A Ramayan-themed mural at Mangi Setu is a key highlight. Companies including EaseMyTrip Foundation, Godrej Industries Group, and Dalmia Bharat Limited will execute the work under CSR initiatives. The plan focuses on converting unused spaces into safe, organised, and accessible public areas while improving overall infrastructure quality.
The Delhi government has initiated a plan to redevelop spaces beneath six flyovers across the city, aiming to improve both functionality and visual appeal of these underutilised areas. The redevelopment will include landscaped green zones, wall art, seating arrangements, improved lighting, and better sanitation facilities. These additions are intended to make the spaces safer for public use while also addressing issues such as encroachment, poor maintenance, and lack of proper infrastructure that are commonly seen under flyovers in dense urban areas.
The project is being implemented with the support of private organisations including EaseMyTrip Foundation, Godrej Industries Group, and Dalmia Bharat Limited. Each entity has been assigned specific locations. Dalmia Bharat Limited will redevelop the Oberoi and Lodhi flyovers along with the Mangi Setu stretch near Kashmere Gate. EaseMyTrip Foundation has taken up the Apsara Border and Mayur Vihar Phase-1 flyovers, while Godrej Industries Group will work on the Netaji Subhash Place flyover.
A key feature of the plan is the development of a Ramayan-themed mural at Mangi Setu. The artwork will depict scenes from the epic, adding a cultural element to the infrastructure upgrade. This approach is aimed at improving not just the physical condition of the space but also its visual identity.
Officials indicated that the initiative is part of a broader effort to make better use of existing urban infrastructure. The Chief Minister conveyed that the government is working with private partners to ensure faster execution and improved quality of development. The intention is to create clean, accessible, and citizen-friendly spaces that can be used for daily activities.
The Public Works Department is overseeing the project and has noted that similar redevelopment efforts in the past have helped improve safety and usability in high-traffic areas. By introducing proper lighting, landscaping, and structured layouts, the government expects to reduce misuse of these spaces and improve overall urban management.
In addition to improving aesthetics, the project also aims to create a sense of ownership and regular use of these areas by the public. The inclusion of seating and open spaces is expected to encourage community interaction while maintaining order and cleanliness.
