The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has entered into a collaboration with Cube Highways Technologies to enhance the technical capabilities of its officials through a structured training programme. The initiative, formalised through a memorandum of understanding signed in the past week, focuses on upskilling junior-level officials in specialised areas of highway engineering and project execution. Training will be conducted at the Cube Highways Innovation Centre in Hyderabad and will combine classroom instruction with practical learning and case-based assessments. The programme covers key domains such as traffic estimation, pavement design, and material performance. The initiative is part of NHAI's broader capacity-building efforts aimed at improving project quality and aligning workforce capabilities with evolving infrastructure standards.
The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has signed a memorandum of understanding with Cube Highways Technologies Private Limited in the past week to implement a specialised technical training programme aimed at strengthening the skills of its officials involved in highway development, with sessions to be conducted in Hyderabad.
The collaboration is designed to enhance the technical competencies of NHAI personnel in line with evolving infrastructure standards and project requirements. The agreement was formalised in the presence of NHAI Chairman Santosh Kumar Yadav and senior representatives from both organisations, reflecting a coordinated effort to address skill gaps in highway project execution.
Under the partnership, the training programme will focus on key engineering and operational areas critical to national highway development. These include traffic estimation, flexible pavement design, bituminous materials, and performance evaluation of road assets. The curriculum is structured to align technical knowledge with current best practices in construction and maintenance of highways.
The programme has been specifically designed for junior-level officials within NHAI and will be conducted at the Cube Highways Innovation Centre in Hyderabad. It will combine classroom-based instruction with practical exposure, including hands-on training and case study-driven assessments, aimed at bridging the gap between theoretical understanding and on-ground execution challenges.
Officials associated with the initiative indicated that the training structure is intended to improve the ability of personnel to manage complex highway projects more effectively. By strengthening technical expertise at the operational level, the authority aims to enhance the quality, durability, and efficiency of national highway infrastructure delivery.
The collaboration forms part of NHAI's broader institutional focus on capacity building and workforce development, particularly in the context of expanding highway construction programmes across the country. With projects increasingly involving advanced engineering techniques and larger-scale infrastructure components, there has been a growing emphasis on equipping officials with updated technical knowledge and practical skills.
Cube Highways Technologies, a subsidiary of Singapore-based Cube Highways, brings industry experience in highway asset management and operations, which is expected to support the training framework. The partnership is positioned to facilitate knowledge exchange between the public authority and private sector expertise in infrastructure delivery.
The initiative reflects a shift towards structured skill development within government agencies overseeing large-scale infrastructure projects. As execution complexities increase, such collaborations are being explored to ensure that project planning, monitoring, and implementation processes are supported by technically equipped personnel across different levels of the organisation.
