Ceigall India has secured 15 power purchase agreements through its subsidiary to supply electricity from a 130 MW solar project in Madhya Pradesh under the Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Yojana. The project will provide daytime power to the agricultural sector and support clean energy goals. With an EPC cost of around INR 572 crore, the project will be executed within 12 months and operated for 25 years at a tariff of INR 2.85 per unit. This marks the company's entry into solar energy alongside its infrastructure business.
Ceigall India has announced that its subsidiary, Ceigall Green Energy MP Ltd, has entered into 15 power purchase agreements with Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company for supplying electricity from a 130 MW solar capacity. The project is being developed under the Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Yojana, which focuses on providing reliable daytime power to the agriculture sector through dedicated solar feeders.
Under the agreements, the subsidiary will be responsible for implementing, operating, and maintaining solar photovoltaic power plants for a period of 25 years. The power will be supplied at a tariff of INR 2.85 per unit. The long-term agreement ensures stable revenue visibility while supporting the state's transition towards cleaner energy sources.
The total engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) cost of the project is estimated at around INR 572 crore, including GST. The execution timeline has been set at 12 months, after which the project will enter a 25-year operational phase. Such feeder-level solarisation projects are being increasingly adopted across states to reduce dependence on conventional power and improve supply reliability for farmers.
The Surya Mitra Krishi Feeder Yojana is part of a broader effort to strengthen rural power infrastructure while aligning with India's renewable energy targets. Similar initiatives have been implemented in states like Maharashtra and Gujarat, where dedicated solar feeders have helped reduce subsidy burdens and improve power availability during the day.
The company's Chairman and Managing Director, Ramneek Sehgal, stated that the development reflects the company's focus on building sustainable and high-quality solar assets that contribute to India's long-term energy transition. He added that the company aims to play a larger role in clean energy infrastructure going forward.
Ceigall India, traditionally known for its EPC capabilities in highways, expressways, bridges, flyovers, railway overbridges, tunnels, and runways, is now expanding into the renewable energy segment. This move is in line with the government's push for energy security and sustainable infrastructure development, and also allows the company to diversify its project portfolio beyond transportation infrastructure.
