The Khavda solar park in Gujarat is one of the country's largest renewable energy zones and plays a key role in India's clean energy transition. NTPC has been actively expanding its renewable portfolio, with a target of achieving 60 GW of renewable energy capacity by 2032. The company has been focusing on solar, wind, and hybrid projects to reduce dependence on thermal power and align with national climate goals.
In the past few years, NTPC has accelerated its renewable energy investments through its subsidiary NREL, which is responsible for developing large-scale green energy projects across multiple states. The phased commissioning of projects like Khavda-I and Khavda-II reflects the company's strategy to gradually bring capacity online while ensuring grid stability and operational efficiency.
